The Las Vegas Aces, formerly known as the Utah Starzz and San Antonio Silver Stars, are a professional basketball team in the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA). Founded in 1997 as one of the eight original franchises, the team is based in Las Vegas, Nevada. Throughout its history, the franchise has had several name changes and relocations. Initially established in Salt Lake City, Utah, as the Utah Starzz, the team played its home games at the Great Salt Lake International Airport Arena. In 2003, the franchise was relocated to San Antonio, Texas, and became the San Antonio Silver Stars. During this period, the team achieved moderate success, qualifying for the WNBA Playoffs multiple times and making it to the Finals in 2008. The Las Vegas Aces finally found their current home in 2018 when the team was purchased by MGM Resorts International and moved to Las Vegas, Nevada, where they have been playing at the Mandalay Bay Events Center. This relocation brought increased enthusiasm and support from fans in the vibrant city of Las Vegas.
