Christopher Gregor is charged with murder and endangering the welfare of a child in the death of his 6-year-old son. Corey Micciolo was allegedly forced to run on a treadmill because his father believed he was too fat. Prosecutors believe Corey died from injuries sustained from chronic abuse.

The State wanted to push back on that argument claiming instead his father's ongoing physical abuse led to Corey's death. Christopher Gregor's attorney challenged the expertise of the State's pediatrician who happened to specialize in infectious disease. She argued to jurors that six-year-old Corey didn't die of an infection.

The police officer who arrested Christopher Gregor testified in his defense. Nearly a year after Corey Micciolo died, the defendant was arrested and charged for child endangerment and murder. Next, a world-renowned forensic pathologist testified for the defense. Dr. Michael Baden, known for his work in famous autopsies like JFK and Martin Luther King, Jr., was consulted by Christopher Gregor's attorneys. The aim was to bring to light how Corey may not have been killed.

After reviewing case notes and the autopsy report, Dr. Michael Baden concluded Corey Micciolo most likely died of an infection and not blunt-force trauma, as the State asserted. Dr. Baden's expertise in this case was three-fold. One, forensic pathology. Two, child abuse. And three, blunt-force trauma.

A second medical opinion to how six-year-old Corey Micciolo was relayed to the jury. On the stand was the Defense's forensic pathologist, Dr. Michael Baden, who happened to specialize in child abuse and blunt force trauma. None of which he claimed defendant, Christopher Gregor, did to Corey to lead to his death. The process and results of conducting an autopsy was made clear to jurors.
