Mother Stabbed Murder Trial
S1, EP22 "Neuropsychologist Gives His Diagnosis"
Jurors heard more details about the state of mind of Sydney Powell. Forensic neuropsychologist Dr. Thomas Swale testified that the defendant experienced psychosis when she attacked her mom. He went on to tell jurors that Powell had a clash of reality which led to her psychosis. Dr. Swale evaluated the defendant more than three years after she killed her mother. He met with her for 23 hours over three separate days.
S1, EP23 "From Honor Roll To Matricide"
A former teacher of Sydney Powell testified in her murder trial. Years before she was accused of fatally stabbing her mother, Brenda, Sydney was a high school student who excelled and even got an academic scholarship to go to college. Next, jurors hear from a jail and prison psychologist. Dr. Robin Belcher-Timme claimed Powell could not appreciate the wrongfulness of her actions.
S1, EP24 "Malingering Or Not?"
Jurors learned about the correlation between mental illness and violence. This was the main issue in Sydney Powell's case where her defense claimed she had a psychotic break and went into a catatonic state when she attacked her mother, Brenda. Dr. Robin Belcher-Timme, a forensic psychologist, claimed Sydney was not faking her symptoms. Her defense tried to convince jurors that a mental illness led to the stabbing of her mother, Brenda, while her mom was on the phone.
S1, EP25 "State's Rebuttal Case"
The Defense rested its case to the jury. Now it was time for the state's rebuttal. Prosecutors called one witness in their rebuttal case. Dr. Silvia O'Bradovich, a clinical psychologist, testified that she interviewed Sydney Powell for two hours and diagnosed her with borderline personality traits and unspecified anxiety disorder and concluded that she was malingering. Dr. O'Bradovich dismissed the claim that the defendant suffers from schizophrenia.
