A History of the World in Six Glasses
Dan Aykroyd Jim Belushi, Kevin Nealon, Jon Lovitz and George Wendt raise many glasses and talk about the history of the world and the drinks enjoyed along the way. It's the story of beer, wine, sprits, coffee, tea and soda, and how these six drinks shaped the modern world. The series was written and directed by Rob Long, a former executive producer of the long-running NBC hit series "Cheers." With Dan behind the bar serving up drinks with a generous pour, five very funny friends take a thirsty walk through time.
S1, EP6 "Coffee: The World Wakes Up"
Coffee woke the world up; centuries ago it gave people a lift and it still does; Jon doesn't like it, Jim grew up on it; one thing is clear: without coffee, the world would still be asleep.
S1, EP5 "Tea: The Drink That Caused Trouble"
Tea is simple, just leaves in hot water, but it's a complicated story involving opium, the American Revolution, and the ritual of High Tea, which Dan, Jim, and Jon enjoy with scones and silly accents.
S1, EP4 "Wine: Passion in a Bottle"
From its roots in the ancient world to its place in Christian churches and among the wine snobs, Dan, Jim, and Kevin sip, swirl, and drink their way through the history of wine.
S1, EP3 "Soda: American Fizz Goes Global"
When soda was first invented, they said it could cure anything; as Dan, Kevin, and Jim discover, soda's real contribution was introducing the world to the American way of life.
