Heading north up the east coast of Grande Terre, the crew takes the opportunity to hike inland; along the way, they discover historic wreck dives and surf some of the best breaks in the South Pacific.

Barefoot completes its circumnavigation of New Caledonia with a festival of free diving; with Vanuatu calling, the crew is tested by rough waters as they fish for supplies for the crossing.

Dean and the crew head to Middleton Reef for a mesmerizing ocean swim in water 4.5km deep; a tiger shark appears at the reef.

The crossing to Vanuatu is rough, held up by appalling weather and sea sickness; relieved to arrive in Tanna, the crew take time to revive their spirits, but a nasty accident takes one member down.
