Hot Bench
Many popular court shows are on TV. How can the genre improve? How about using a three-judge panel? That's the concept of "Hot Bench," created by Judge Judy Sheindlin. After hearing each case, the judges discuss it among themselves before rendering a verdict. The show's title comes from a term describing a court action in which a judge frequently interrupts lawyers with questions.
S10, EP115 "Good Neighbors Leave Bad Stains"
Three renowned judges discuss the case of neighbors accusing the son of a true crime podcaster of throwing wood stain on their driveway.
S9, EP74 "Brought Up On Charges"
A man's mom paid for a lawyer to keep him out of jail, but the loan agreement she had him sign included a six-month celibacy clause; after a fight over banana pudding and being "evicted" from her house, he doesn't think he owes her the money anymore.
S10, EP146 "Dog Day Attack"
A woman accuses a neighbor's off-leash pit bull of killing her Yorkie in her own front yard; the neighbor's excuse: all of the dogs in that neighborhood are off leash.
S11, EP56 "Trust Me"
A man says his sister is denying their mother's last wishes by withholding rent she collected on the house they inherited; the sister says she incurred costs for 20 months while a squatter paid no rent, and the brother signed a quit claim deed.
