Ray Evernham has at least one thing in common with millions of other Americans -- he loves the rich, diverse history of U.S. automobiles. In "AmeriCarna," the NASCAR championship-winning crew chief and team owner searches barns, garages, junkyards and basements across the country, all in the pursuit of historic racing cars, classic cars, folklore and automotive artifacts. Along the way, Evernham hears plenty of stories from other enthusiasts who share the impact that iconic cars have had on their lives, among them director Ron Howard, surfing icon Laird Hamilton, Beach Boys legend Mike Love, country music star Brad Paisley, and drag racing king Don "the Snake" Prudhomme.
S3, EP2 "Roar at the Shore"
The Race of Gentleman, an iconic event held on the beach in Wildwood, N.J., features period vehicles, period dress, and pure authenticity; Ray enters a car in the race and adds a very special driver.
S3, EP4 "Dragster Diplomacy"
Bob Keith and his Dos Palmas dragster visit England in 1964; after the car is lost for over 40 years, Ray discovers the classic vehicle and gives it a proper rebirth at the National Hot Rod Reunion.
S3, EP7 "Model T Takes Flight"
Ray finds a t-bucket with a record-breaking past, and wants to rebuild the roadster so it can match or improve on the record.
S4, EP2 "Two Juniors and El Laguna"
Dale Earnhardt Jr. and Ray build a half-car half-truck El Laguna and have Al Unser Jr. race it against a vintage racing champion on a road course at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
