When ranch boss Lucky Langham (Robert E. Homans) dies, his right-hand man, Gene (Gene Autry), is named executor of his estate. Gene soon learns that, among other responsibilities, he must make sure that Langham's daughter, Cody (Carol Hughes), marries a decent and respectable man. When Gene won't let her marry Cummings (Craig Reynolds), a shady businessman with eyes on her inheritance, Cummings puts a bounty on Gene's head. Cody's attempts to settle matters only get herself and Gene in trouble.
