Her lawyer argued that with his height and Weight only he could've shot and killed his dad, Gary, and dragged his 300-pound body to a burn pile to have his remains charred. Scott denied having any role in killing his father and disposing his body. He admitted to the jury that he fully understood why investigators deemed him as a suspect in the homicide.

He happened to be with Scott Farris earlier that morning when Gary Farris was found dead with his human remains charred in a burn pile on the family property.
