Liga ACB, formerly known as the Asociación de Clubs de Baloncesto (ACB), is one of the top-tier professional basketball leagues in Europe. It is the 1st-tier basketball league in Spain and consists of 18 teams. Each team plays 34 games in the regular season, which typically runs from September to April. During the last two weeks of the regular season, two of the highest ranked teams get a one point advantage over the other teams in the standings.\n\nACB season is composed of Top 16, which occurs during the middle of the season, and playoffs. At the Top 16 stage, the lowest eight ranked teams in the standings are eliminated and the remaining 16 teams are paired up, with the first-placed team facing the 16th-placed team, the second-placed team facing the 15th-placed team, etc. This round decides the seeding for the postseason. At the end of the regular season, the eight highest-ranked teams qualify for the quarterfinals of the playoffs. Some of the most notable current players include Pau Gasol, Rudy Fernandez, Nikola Mirotic, and Sergio Llull. The all-time leading scorer is Juan Antonio Corbalan with 8,090 points. Real Madrid holds the record for most Liga ACB championships with 28 titles, followed by Barcelona Regal with 18 championships. \n\nLiga ACB has been home to some of the greatest European players of all time, such as Dražen Petrović, Toni Kukoč, and Andrés Nocioni, who have all represented Liga ACB teams throughout their illustrious careers.
