The AFL Premiership Football is the Australian elite professional level of men's football. It is the most watched sport in Australia and has been affectionately called 'The Greatest Game of All.' Some of the league's most popular players are Patrick Dangerfield, Nat Fyfe, Buddy Franklin, Dustin Martin, Jeremy McGovern, Marcus Bontempelli, Tom Hawkins and Jack Steele. \n\nSince 1897, there have been 165 premiers in the competition with the most successful clubs of the modern era being the Hawthorne Hawks (13 premierships), Essendon Bombers (16 premierships) and the Collingwood Magpies (15 premierships). The present form of the competition, which has been in place since 1997, has been dominated by the Hawthorn Hawks and Richmond Tigers, who have combined to win 11 premierships since 2000.\n\nThe AFL Premiership Football is one of the most followed and engaged sports leagues in Australia, with a large viewership that increases each season and a loyal fan base that has grown deeper over the past few years. It is highly competitive and always unpredictable, with the fate of the premiership often decided in the later rounds of the season. The excitement continues through the playoffs and does not end until the final whistle of the AFL Grand Final.
