There are numerous collegiate teams competing in the NCAA Women's Basketball Division I and II with top programs such as UConn Huskies, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, Baylor Lady Bears, Louisville Cardinals, Mississippi State Bulldogs, Oregon Ducks, Stanford Cardinals, Oregon State Beavers, and many more.\n\nThe regular season for Women's College Basketball begins in November and concludes with the Big Dance: the NCAA Women's Basketball Tournament. During the regular season, teams play for their respective conferences in an effort to win their conference championship and compete for an at-large bid to the Tournament. The post-season also features the Women’s National Invitational Tournament (WNIT) and conference tournaments that determine which teams qualify for the NCAA Tournament. The NCAA Tournament is a single-elimination tournament made up of 64 teams that includes conference champions plus 31 other teams chosen by a selection committee. The tournament culminates in the Women’s Final Four, which is a highly anticipated event that brings together the best college teams in the nation to compete for the national championship.\n\nThere are several top contenders in the Women's College Basketball world right now, including Breanna Stewart and Nikkie Caldwell from UConn, Notre Dame’s Natalie Achonwa, and Baylor’s Odyssey Sims. All four of these standouts were recently selected in the first round of the 2014 WNBA draft. Other top players and their respective teams include Brittany Griner with the Baylor Bears, Skylar Diggins with the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, and Chiney Ogwumike with the Stanford Cardinal.\n\nWomen's college basketball is a historic and cherished sport that has been around since the 1940's. The inaugural women’s championship in 1982 marked the birth of the Women’s NIT Tournament, the predecessor to the current NCAA tournament. In 1987, the first NCAA Women's Basketball Division I and II was officially established. The game continues to amaze fans with its undeniable intensity and athletes who possess unparalleled skills. The No. 1 Bruins (14-0, 3-0 Big Ten) set up a two-game stay in the Midwest, starting when they face the Hoosiers (10-3, 2-0). UCLA is 3-0 in true road games in 2024-24. Bruins guard Kiki Rice averaged 17 points and three assists across those wins.

Stanford at SMU

The Cardinal (8-4, 0-1) and Mustangs (8-5, 0-1) both seek their first wins in their new conference. SMU dropped its ACC opener to Florida State while Stanford lost to longtime rival Cal. Nya Robertson leads the Mustangs with 20.1 points per game.

North Carolina at Miami

The Ducks (9-4, 0-2) seek their first Big Ten victory when they visit the Wildcats (7-6, 0-2). Junior guard Caroline Lau, who leads Northwestern with 6.4 assists per contest, netted a season-high 15 points in a home loss to Washington on Dec. 28.

Virginia at Notre Dame

Hannah Hildalgo and the No. 3 Fighting Irish (10-2, 1-0 ACC) host the Cavaliers (8-5, 0-1). Hidalgo, a 5-foot-6 sophomore and AP Preseason All-American, averages 25.8 points, 6.6 rebounds and 4.3 steals per game. Notre Dame has won five straight.

Clemson at NC State

The No. 22 Wolfpack (9-3, 1-0 ACC) seek their 16th straight victory over the Tigers (8-4, 1-0). Clemson last defeated NC State 76-74 on Jan. 6, 2011. Wolfpack senior Aziaha James averages a team-best 16.6 points per game, as well as 5.4 rebounds.

Nebraska at USC

The Cornhuskers complete their swing through Tinseltown when they challenge JuJu Watkins and the No. 4 Trojans in a Big Ten contest. Nebraska has won five straight against USC, with the last matchup occurring Nov. 29, 2019, in Las Vegas.
