NHL
The National Hockey League (NHL) is a winter pro ice hockey league, founded on November 26, 1917 in Montreal, Canada. The league once consisted of only six teams in the US and Canada, with the original six teams being the Montreal Canadiens, Toronto Maple Leafs, Boston Bruins, Chicago Blackhawks, Detroit Red Wings, and New York Rangers. Although there have been several expansions over the years, the original six teams remain in the league. Today, the NHL consists of 31 teams, including 24 in the US and seven in Canada, and is considered to be one of the premier professional ice hockey leagues in the world. The NHL season consists of 162 games per regular season, where teams battle to get the coveted Stanley Cup and represent their country in the playoffs. The playoffs begin after the regular season ends and feature 16 teams competing for the Stanley Cup. During playoffs, the format is a best-of-seven series for each playoffs round. The most popular players in the current season include struggling Auston Matthews of the Toronto Maple Leafs; big name Vladimir Tarasenko of the St. Louis Blues; Russian Magician Evgeni Malkin from the Pittsburgh Penguins; Connor McDavid of the Edmonton Oilers; and multi-talented Patrice Bergeron from the Boston Bruins. The NHL has several prestigious awards each season, including Hart Memorial Trophy, awarded to the player displaying excellence each season; the Calder Memorial Trophy, given to the top rookie player; the Ted Lindsay Award, chosen by the players themselves to recognize the best player each year; and the James Norris Memorial Trophy, given to the top defenseman in the league. Hockey's history with the NHL dates back to the early 1900s, and its history is present to this day in the form of records and statistics. Some of the most iconic records in hockey against teams include the Detroit Red Wings with most consecutive seasons with at least one player scoring 90 points; the Montreal Canadiens with the most Stanley Cup Championships (24); and the Toronto Maple Leafs with the most consecutive playoff appearances (29). During the 2020-2021 season, Edmonton Oilers superstar, Connor McDavid, broke a long-standing NHL record of Hart Trophy winners scoring more than 120 points with his 126 points. With its rich history and current figures in the ice hockey arena, the NHL continues to be a beloved worldwide professional league and brings entertainment to its viewers across the world.

NHLNathan MacKinnon's Avalanche host Sidney Crosby's Penguins as 4 Nations Face-Off teammates duel. Colorado got the best of Pittsburgh in a 6-2 romp on Dec. 10, 2024, in the Steel City. MacKinnon notched a goal and four assists in that victory.
Calgary Flames at Philadelphia Flyers
NHLThe Flames face the Flyers. On Jan. 30, Philadelphia sent Joel Farabee and Morgan Frost to Calgary in exchange for Andrei Kuzmenko and Jakob Pelletier. Jonathan Huberdeau's four points helped Calgary double up Philadelphia 6-3 on Oct. 12, 2024.
Nashville Predators at Boston Bruins
NHLThe Bruins try to shake off the home doldrums when they host the Predators. Boston has lost four straight at TD Garden, all one-goal losses with two coming in overtime. Juuse Saros made 33 saves as Nashville blanked Boston 4-0 on Oct. 22, 2024.

Philadelphia Flyers at Winnipeg Jets
NHLThe Flyers and Jets compete in the first of two matchups in six days. Mark Scheifele became the franchise leader with 329 career goals by netting the overtime winner for Winnipeg in its last home date Feb. 24. The Jets are 23-5-3 on home ice.
Nashville Predators at New York Islanders
NHLThe Predators start a three-game trip to the Northeast by playing the Islanders. New York snapped a 10-game series slide in the last meeting, 2-0 on April 6, 2024. Nashville is 6-18-4 on the road after losing its last four outside the Music City.
Tampa Bay Lightning at Washington Capitals
NHLWashington welcomes Tampa Bay to the nation's capital for the rubber match of their 2024-25 set. The Lightning won the first meeting 3-0 in October 2024. The Capitals got even 5-4 in November. Brayden Point (TBL) scored four goals in the two games.
Montreal Canadiens at Buffalo Sabres
NHLThe Canadiens and Sabres compete in the first leg of a home-and-home series. Buffalo has won six straight on home ice, with sniper Tage Thompson collecting 11 points in those contests. Montreal leads the season series 2-0-0, outscoring Buffalo 13-6.
Boston Bruins at Minnesota Wild
NHLThe Bruins visit the Wild. Boston beat Minnesota 3-0 in Beantown on Feb. 4 behind 35 saves by Jeremy Swayman. The clubs have split 16 meetings in St. Paul. Minnesota is 13-13-1 at Xcel Energy Center this season, 3-3-0 versus Atlantic Division foes.
