NFL

The National Football League (NFL) is a professional American football league consisting of 32 teams, divided equally between the National Football Conference (NFC) and the American Football Conference (AFC). The NFL is one of the four major professional sports leagues in North America and the highest professional level of American football in the world. The NFL is one of the most popular professional sports leagues in the world, with fans and players from around the globe. The regular season of the NFL runs from early September to mid December, consisting of 17 weeks of games. Each team plays 16 games out of their respective conference and has one bye week to rest and prepare for the rest of the season. At the end of the regular season, the top six teams from each conference will qualify for the playoffs. The playoffs are single-elimination brackets, which determine the two teams that will play in the championship game, the Super Bowl. The NFL has a long and distinguished history. It was founded in 1920 as the American Professional Football Association before changing its name to the National Football League in 1922. The first Super Bowl was held in 1967 and has since become the most watched sporting event in the world. Legendary players like Tom Brady, Brett Favre, and Lawrence Taylor are considered some of the greatest players in the history of the league. The NFL boasts some of the most successful teams in sports history, including the Pittsburgh Steelers, Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, and the New England Patriots. Buffalo Bills at Detroit Lions

Buffalo (10-3) visits NFC-leading Detroit (12-1). The Lions have won 11 games in a row for the first time in franchise history after holding off the Packers 34-31 on Dec. 5. The Bills' seven-game run ended with a 44-42 setback to the Rams.

Pittsburgh Steelers at Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles and Steelers compete in the Battle of Pennsylvania. Philadelphia locked up a playoff berth following a ninth straight win Dec. 8. Pittsburgh clinches a postseason spot with a victory. Both clubs allow fewer than 20 points per game.

Washington Commanders at New Orleans Saints

NFL

The Commanders return from their bye and play the Saints in the Big Easy. Washington beat Tennessee 42-19 prior to its week off to snap a three-game slide. New Orleans quarterback Derek Carr is week-to-week with a hand injury and a concussion.

Green Bay Packers at Seattle Seahawks

NFL

The Packers (9-4) visit the Seahawks (8-5). Green Bay is 8-1 outside of the division, but fell Dec. 5 at Detroit despite three TDs from Josh Jacobs. Zach Charbonnet racked up 193 yards from scrimmage and two TDs in Seattle's fourth straight win.

Indianapolis Colts at Denver Broncos

The Colts visit the Broncos. The eighth-place Colts trail the seventh-place Broncos by two games. Denver has piled up 108 points during its three-game win streak. Entering Week 15, Bo Nix (DEN) leads all rookie quarterbacks with 17 TD passes.

Denver Broncos at Los Angeles Chargers

AFC West adversaries in the Chargers and Broncos battle on Thursday Night Football. Los Angeles won 23-16 in the Mile High City in Week 6 to halt a three-game series slide. The Broncos trailed 23-0 entering the fourth quarter of that affair.

Los Angeles Rams at San Francisco 49ers

The 49ers (6-7) try to re-enter the NFC West race when they host the Rams (7-6) on Thursday Night Football. Kyren Williams (LAR) found the end zone twice in a comeback win over San Francisco in Week 3, and in a 44-42 victory over Buffalo on Dec. 8.

Miami Dolphins at Houston Texans

The Dolphins (6-7) continue their desperate playoff push by visiting the AFC South-leading Texans (8-5). Miami is two games behind all three clubs that sit in AFC wild-card position. Houston comes off its bye week with a two-game division advantage.

Baltimore Ravens at New York Giants

The well-rested but riled-up Ravens visit the Giants. Baltimore took Week 14 off after falling at Philadelphia 24-19 on Dec. 1. Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson fell to 23-2 versus NFC teams in that game. The first loss was to the Giants in 2022.

Kansas City Chiefs at Cleveland Browns

Kareem Hunt returns to Cleveland as his Chiefs (12-1) visit the Browns (3-10). Hunt, an Ohio native, spent five seasons with Cleveland from 2019-2023. Kansas City won another one-score game in Week 14, defeating the Los Angeles Chargers 19-17.

Dallas Cowboys at Carolina Panthers

The Cowboys return to the road when they take on the Panthers. Dallas had a modest two-game win streak snapped despite Rico Dowdle's career-high 131 rushing yards in a Dec. 9 loss to Cincinnati. Carolina played Philadelphia close, but lost 22-16.

Cincinnati Bengals at Tennessee Titans

The Bengals (5-8) roll into Music City to face the Titans (3-10). Joe Burrow threw for 369 yards and three TDs, two to Ja'Marr Chase including the late winner, as Cincinnati kept its AFC playoff hopes alive with a 27-20 decision at Dallas on Dec. 9.
