The National Basketball Association (NBA) is the premier professional basketball league in North America. Established in 1946, the NBA consists of 30 teams, 24 of which are based in the United States and six in Canada. The regular season runs from October to April and the playoffs typically begin in April and can end in June. The NBA playoffs consists of four rounds: first round, semifinals, and the Conference finals followed by the NBA Finals. The reigning champion is the Toronto Raptors, led by their star player, Kawhi Leonard. The NBA is known for producing some of the best talent in the game, and current popular players include LeBron James, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Stephen Curry. Legends such as Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Bill Russell, and Magic Johnson have left a lasting legacy on the game and in their respective teams. Jordan is the NBA's all-time leader in points with 32,292. The NBA’s history of population growth and team expansion has seen some of the best teams in the league such as the Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, San Antonio Spurs, Golden State Warriors, and Chicago Bulls. Since its beginnings, these teams have won a combined 67 championships. The Los Angeles Lakers lead the way with 16 overall championships in their history, closely followed by the Boston Celtics who have won 17. The NBA continues to reinvent itself and has recently seen an increase in three-point shooting, with the NBA All-Star 3-Point Contest as a popular annual event. Statistics show that three-pointers were taken more often and made at a higher percentage, with officials making tweaks to the game such as through the introduction of the shot clock and the adjustment of the free-throw line distance. The NBA is one of the most successful professional sports league in the world. With talented players, a vast history and culture, and multiple championships, it has quickly become one of the most popular leagues for which people tune in to watch - from high-profile playoff matchups to the fun and excitement of the All-Star Weekend.

Memphis Grizzlies at Los Angeles Lakers
NBAThe Lakers aim to avenge a loss to the Grizzlies from earlier in the season with this contest. Memphis dropped Los Angeles 131-114 on Nov. 6. Three Grizzlies notched 20 points in that win over the Lakers, including second-round rookie Jaylen Wells.
Chicago Bulls at New York Knicks
NBAThe Knicks return to Madison Square Garden to begin a four-game homestand, starting with the Bulls. New York is 2-1 at home, with the loss coming to red-hot Cleveland. Chicago is 3-3 on the road, with Nikola Vucevic averaging 20.8 points per game.
Dallas Mavericks at Utah Jazz
NBAThe Mavericks tip off with the Jazz. Dallas can clinch the season series after handing Utah a 110-102 loss Oct. 28. Klay Thompson (DAL) scored 18 points in that game, and poured in 35 during his last trip to Utah in February with Golden State.
Detroit Pistons at Toronto Raptors
NBAEast Group B in the 2024 NBA Cup continues as the Pistons head north to face the Raptors. Detroit needed overtime to win its Cup opener 123-121 over Miami on Nov. 12. Toronto remains winless on the road in 2024-25 after losing 99-85 to Milwaukee.

LA Clippers at Oklahoma City Thunder
NBAThe Thunder play for the second time in as many nights as they host the Clippers. Oklahoma City leads the season series after winning 105-92 in its Intuit Dome debut on Nov. 2. Former Los Angeles guard Shai Gilgeous-Alexander led OKC with 25 points.
Sacramento Kings at San Antonio Spurs
NBADeMar DeRozan returns to San Antonio as his Kings take on the Spurs in a Veterans Day clash. DeRozan spent three seasons with San Antonio from 2018-2021 after arriving in a trade from Toronto. Sacramento has won eight of the last nine meetings.
