College football is a sport that has been played for over 150 years. It is one of the most popular and beloved sports in the United States, with hundreds of millions of fans cheering on their favourite college football teams every fall. College football is a game in which teams of student-athletes from universities and colleges compete against each other in an exciting and thrilling battle of offensive and defensive football. The sport consists of 11-on-11 matches, usually played on Saturdays during the fall months in stadiums across America. College football's regular season usually begins in late August or early September and ends in early December. The teams are decided by each school's football conference - e.g. the SEC, the ACC, the Big 12, the Big Ten and more. After the regular season, some teams will be chosen to compete in the post-season playoffs that will decide the national champion. The most popular college football teams in the country are Alabama Crimson Tide, Clemson Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Georgia Bulldogs, Oregon Ducks, Florida Gators, Oklahoma Sooners, and LSU Tigers. The history of College football is filled with legendary teams and players, such as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Michigan Wolverines, Charles Woodson, and Marcus Mariota. Some of the most memorable games in College Football history include the 1969 ‘Game of the Century’ between the Texas Longhorns and Arkansas Razorbacks, the 2006 Rose Bowl between USC and Texas, and the 2012 BCS National Championship Game between Alabama and Notre Dame. The No. 15 Sooners take on the Cougars in Week 2. The programs did not meet during their one-year overlap in the Big 12 last season. Oklahoma dismantled Temple 51-3 in its opener, while Willie Fritz's coaching debut for Houston was spoiled by UNLV.

Alcorn State at Vanderbilt

The Braves get a taste of SEC competition in this game against the Commodores. Vanderbilt needed overtime, but started 2024 with an upset victory of Virginia Tech. Diego Pavia, a New Mexico State transfer, scored the winning TD in the 34-27 decision.

Appalachian State at Clemson

The No. 25 Tigers lick their wounds before welcoming the Mountaineers to Death Valley. Then-No. 14 Clemson was limited to 189 yards in a 34-3 loss to No. 1 Georgia in Week 1. App State opened with a 38-10 victory over FCS side East Tennessee State.

Arizona State at Texas State

The Sun Devils ride high into this outing against the Bobcats. Arizona beat an SEC school for the first time in program history by outlasting Mississippi State 30-23 on Sept. 7. ASU senior Cam Skattebo exploded for 262 rushing yards in that game.

South Florida at Alabama

Kalen DeBoer and his No. 4 Crimson Tide host the Bulls. Kalen DeBoer became the first Alabama coach to win his first game via shutout since Wallace Wade in 1923 with a 63-0 Week 1 rout of Western Kentucky. Alabama defeated South Florida 17-3 in 2023.

Middle Tennessee State at Ole Miss

Jaxson Dart and the No. 6 Rebels roll into their game against Derek Mason's Blue Raiders. Dart, a Heisman Trophy contender, passed for five touchdowns and ran for one, all in the first half, during a 76-0 demolition of FCS member Furman in Week 1.

Mississippi State at Arizona State

The Sun Devils host the Bulldogs in a meeting of Power Four conference foes. The Jeff Lebby era in Mississippi State began with a 56-7 rout of Eastern Kentucky. Arizona State nearly shut out Wyoming in its opener, but settled for a 48-7 outcome.

Baylor at Utah

The Bears play a new Big 12 counterpart in the No. 11 Utes. Utah made the jump from the Pac-12 for 2024-25. Cameron Rising's five TD passes helped Utah blank Southern Utah 49-0 on Aug. 29. Baylor thrashed Tarleton State 45-3 in its opener.

Georgia Tech at Syracuse

The Orange host the No. 23 Yellow Jackets. Kyle McCord threw for four TDs in his Syracuse debut, a 38-22 win over Ohio. Georgia Tech went to Dublin to beat Florida State on a late field goal, and won 35-12 in its home opener versus Georgia State.

Iowa State at Iowa

No. 21 Iowa and Iowa State play for the Cy-Hawk Trophy. The Hawkeyes are 7-1 against the Cyclones since 2015 after picking up a 20-13 decision last year. Iowa topped 40 points for just the second time since 2022 in a Week 1 shutout of Illinois State.

Texas Tech at Washington State

The Cougars host the Red Raiders in a clash of teams who combined to score 122 points in Week 1. Washington State defeated Portland State 70-30. Texas Tech's Behren Morton tossed five TD passes in a 52-51 overtime triumph over Abilene Christian.

Kansas at Illinois

The Fighting Illini come together with the No. 19 Jayhawks in a Week 2 clash at Memorial Stadium. Illinois quarterback Luke Altmyer tossed four TD passes in a 45-0 triumph over Eastern Illinois in Week 1. Kansas bullied Lindenwood 48-3 in its opener.
