College football is a sport that has been played for over 150 years. It is one of the most popular and beloved sports in the United States, with hundreds of millions of fans cheering on their favourite college football teams every fall. College football is a game in which teams of student-athletes from universities and colleges compete against each other in an exciting and thrilling battle of offensive and defensive football. The sport consists of 11-on-11 matches, usually played on Saturdays during the fall months in stadiums across America. College football's regular season usually begins in late August or early September and ends in early December. The teams are decided by each school's football conference - e.g. the SEC, the ACC, the Big 12, the Big Ten and more. After the regular season, some teams will be chosen to compete in the post-season playoffs that will decide the national champion. The most popular college football teams in the country are Alabama Crimson Tide, Clemson Tigers, Ohio State Buckeyes, Georgia Bulldogs, Oregon Ducks, Florida Gators, Oklahoma Sooners, and LSU Tigers. The history of College football is filled with legendary teams and players, such as the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Michigan Wolverines, Charles Woodson, and Marcus Mariota. Some of the most memorable games in College Football history include the 1969 ‘Game of the Century’ between the Texas Longhorns and Arkansas Razorbacks, the 2006 Rose Bowl between USC and Texas, and the 2012 BCS National Championship Game between Alabama and Notre Dame. Akron at Kent State
NCAAFThe Golden Flashes (0-10, 0-6) host the Zips (2-8, 1-5) for a Mid-American Conference contest. Kent State has dropped 19 straight, the longest active streak in the nation. Akron stopped a four-game series slide with a 31-27 triumph in 2023.
Western Michigan at Central Michigan
NCAAFThe Broncos (5-5, 4-2) try to stay in the Mid-American Conference title hunt as they host the Chippewas (3-7, 1-5). Western Michigan fell out of first after losing its last two. The Broncos have won two straight meetings, and five of the past six.
Northern Illinois at Miami (OH)
NCAAFThe RedHawks host the Huskies. Miami (Ohio) owns a share of the Mid-American Conference lead at 5-1 following a fifth straight victory Nov. 13. Freshman Telly Johnson Jr. (NIU) has 293 rushing yards and a pair of scores in three games since debuting.
LSU at Florida
NCAAFThe No. 22 Tigers (6-3, 3-2 SEC) try for their sixth straight victory over the Gators (4-5, 2-4). LSU plummeted out of College Football Playoff contention by losing its past two games, the last a 42-13 drubbing at the hands of then-No. 11 Alabama.
Utah at Colorado
NCAAFThe No. 17 Buffaloes and Utes meet for the first time as Big 12 members. Utah has won seven straight versus Colorado, and 11 of the last 12. The Buffs sit second in the conference after winning three in a row. The Utes are mired in a five-game slide.
Louisville at Stanford
NCAAFA Cardinal clash pits Stanford against No. 19 Louisville in the first meeting between the ACC foes. Louisville secured bowl eligibility with a 33-21 upset win over then-No. 11 Clemson prior to its bye Nov. 2. Stanford wraps up its 2024 home slate.
