\n\nCollege Basketball, also known as NCAA Basketball, is the highest level of basketball competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States. College Basketball teams are made up of student-athletes attending institutions of higher education in the United States. It is one of the most popular sports in the country, with some of the most renowned NCAA Basketball teams including Duke, UNC, Kansas, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Arizona, Syracuse, and Louisville. College Basketball is noted for its competitive intensity and passion that the student-athletes exhibit. \n\nEach NCAA Basketball season consists of a regular season with each team playing approximately 3-4 conferences games and 20-25 games outside of the conference. The season is then capped off with the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament, commonly referred to as the “Big Dance” or the “March Madness”, where 68 teams compete in single-elimination bracket to determine the Division I National Champion. This tournament remains one of the most popular sporting events in the United States and is often the most “bet on” event of the year in the US. \n\nNCAA Basketball has a long and rich history dating back to its first recorded game in 1892 and only getting more popular as the years went on. Some of the big names that have graced the NCAA Basketball courts over the years include: Lew Alcindor (renamed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar once converted to Islam), Bill Walton, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Magic Johnson, and LeBron James; to name a few. \n\nOverall, college basketball continues to remain one of the most popular sports in the US, with intense rivalries and passion for the sport fueling the culture of the competition. NCAA Basketball season excites fans and players alike every year, as they hope for a sweet victory in the tournament and the chance to take home a National Championship.

Purdue at Rutgers

The No. 20 Boilermakers ride a three-game win streak into their Big Ten road test against the Scarlet Knights. Purdue has also won three straight meetings. Trey Kaufman-Renn paces the Boilermakers with 17.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per outing.

SMU at North Carolina

The Tar Heels run with the Mustangs. North Carolina needed a last-second four-point play to get past Notre Dame 74-73 on Jan. 4. Ian Jackson (UNC) is averaging 25 points per game across his past four outings after providing 27 in that win.

Florida State at Miami

The Hurricanes seek their first win under interim head coach Bill Courtney when they host the Seminoles. Florida State beat Syracuse on Jan. 4 for its first ACC triumph in 2024-25. Miami has lost to Boston College and Virginia Tech in the new year.

Virginia Tech at Stanford

The Hokies roll into Maples Pavilion to play the Cardinal. Virginia Tech comes off a thrilling 86-85 win over Miami in the dying seconds. Mylyjael Poteat clutched the three-point play with 2.7 seconds left, finishing with a career-high 25 points.

Kent State at Buffalo

The Golden Flashes (10-4, 1-1 MAC) aim to continue their run against the Bulls (5-9, 0-2). Kent State has won five straight over Buffalo. Jalen Sullinger (KENT), nephew of former NBA player Jared, averaged 23.5 points in the two 2023-24 victories.

The Buckeyes regroup when they visit the Golden Gophers. Ohio State had won three straight, with Bruce Thornton authoring back-to-back 30-point performances, until a 69-62 setback hosting Michigan State on Jan. 3. Minnesota is 8-3 on its home court.

California at Clemson

The Golden Eagles descend on Littlejohn Coliseum to play the Tigers. Clemson beat California 67-59 at the Emerald Coast Classic in 2022 during their only previous meeting. Chase Hunter (CLEM) hit team highs of 14 points and seven assists in that win.

Wisconsin at Rutgers

The Badgers roll into this league game with the Scarlet Knights. Wisconsin's 116 points in a win over Iowa on Jan. 4 was its most at the Kohl Center, and its second-highest total in a game overall. Ace Bailey (RUTG) scored 39 points in a loss Jan. 2.

St. John's at Xavier

The Musketeers host the Red Storm. St. John's has won seven of its past eight overall. Xavier is sliding, with losses in four of its last five. Xavier's Dayvion McKnight had 19 points and six assists in an 88-77 home win over St. John's in 2023-24.

Georgia Tech at Syracuse

The streaking Yellow Jackets (8-7, 2-2 ACC) visit the Orange (6-8, 0-3). Georgia Tech has triumphed in three straight contests, including conference wins over Notre Dame and Boston College. Syracuse is 4-3 at home against Georgia Tech since 2014.

Georgetown at Marquette

The Hoyas fly with the No. 7 Golden Eagles. Marquette has won four in a row, helping it start 4-0 in the Big East. Georgetown, 3-0 in league play, has won five straight. In 2023-24, Marquette won two games versus Georgetown by a combined 64 points.
