NCAAM

College Basketball, also known as NCAA Basketball, is the highest level of basketball competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States. College Basketball teams are made up of student-athletes attending institutions of higher education in the United States. It is one of the most popular sports in the country, with some of the most renowned NCAA Basketball teams including Duke, UNC, Kansas, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Arizona, Syracuse, and Louisville. College Basketball is noted for its competitive intensity and passion that the student-athletes exhibit. Each NCAA Basketball season consists of a regular season with each team playing approximately 3-4 conferences games and 20-25 games outside of the conference. The season is then capped off with the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament, commonly referred to as the “Big Dance” or the “March Madness”, where 68 teams compete in single-elimination bracket to determine the Division I National Champion. This tournament remains one of the most popular sporting events in the United States and is often the most “bet on” event of the year in the US. NCAA Basketball has a long and rich history dating back to its first recorded game in 1892 and only getting more popular as the years went on. Some of the big names that have graced the NCAA Basketball courts over the years include: Lew Alcindor (renamed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar once converted to Islam), Bill Walton, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Magic Johnson, and LeBron James; to name a few. Overall, college basketball continues to remain one of the most popular sports in the US, with intense rivalries and passion for the sport fueling the culture of the competition. NCAA Basketball season excites fans and players alike every year, as they hope for a sweet victory in the tournament and the chance to take home a National Championship.

The No. 3 Braves (28-8) host the Mocs (26-9) in a NIT quarterfinal from Peoria, Ill. Honor Huff's 26 points helped Chattanooga drop No. 1 Dayton at home 87-72, while Bradley got by No. 2 George Mason on the strength of Corey Thomas' double-double.

Illinois State vs Incarnate Word

The Redbirds (20-14) and Cardinals (19-16) tip off in the semifinals of the College Basketball Invitational. Incarnate Word led wire-to-wire in an 87-71 triumph over Jacksonville in the quarterfinals, while Illinois State took out Presbyterian 78-70.

North Texas at Oklahoma State

The No. 2 Mean Green draw the No. 4 Cowboys in this NIT quarterfinal. Jasper Floyd's floater in the dying seconds gave North Texas a 65-63 win over Arkansas State in round two. Oklahoma State also advanced with a two-point victory, taking out SMU.

Florida Gulf Coast vs Cleveland State

Tahj Staveskie and the Vikings try to vanquish the Eagles in the College Basketball Invitational semifinals. Staveskie erupted for 29 points in Cleveland State's 88-73 victory over Queens in the quarterfinals. Florida Gulf Coast held off Army 68-65.

Kent State at Loyola-Chicago

Jayden Dawson and the Ramblers host Jalen Sullinger and the Golden Flashes for an NIT quarterfinal. Loyola Chicago eliminated San Francisco behind a career-high 35 points from Dawson. Sullinger's career-best 34 points pushed Kent State past Stanford.

Alabama-Birmingham at UC Irvine

The No. 1 Anteaters host the Blazers in the NIT quarterfinals. UC Irvine reached 30 wins for only the second time in program history after its second-round victory over Jacksonville State. UAB erased a 17-point deficit to eliminate Santa Clara.

BYU vs Alabama

NCAAM

The No. 6 Cougars march on to face the No. 2 Crimson Tide in the NCAA Tournament's Sweet 16. BYU hung on to knock off No. 3 Wisconsin 91-89 in the second round behind 25 points from Richie Saunders. Alabama took out Robert Morris and Saint Mary's.

Arkansas vs St. John's

Renowned coaches duel as the No. 2 Red Storm face the No. 10 Razorbacks in the NCAA Tournament's second round. Rick Pitino's St. John's sent Omaha packing 83-53 in the first round, while John Calipari's Arkansas eliminated Kansas with a 79-72 win.

Michigan vs Texas A&M

The No. 4 Aggies face the No. 5 Wolverines in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Pharrel Payne recorded a career-high 25 points and 10 rebounds in Texas A&M's 80-71 victory over Yale in the first round. Michigan rebuffed UC San Diego 68-65.

BYU vs Wisconsin

The No. 3 seed Badgers battle the No. 6 Cougars in the NCAA Tournament's second round. Wisconsin ousted Montana 85-66 in its opener. BYU got its first NCAA win since 2012, parlaying a 15-4 run to close the first half into an 80-71 verdict over VCU.

Connecticut vs Florida

The No. 1 Gators draw the No. 8 Huskies in the NCAA Tournament's second round. Walter Clayton Jr. scored 23 points as Florida breezed past Norfolk State 95-69 to begin the event. Two-time defending national champion UConn took out Oklahoma 67-59.

Baylor vs Duke

The No. 1 Blue Devils draw the No. 9 Bears in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Cooper Flagg returned for Duke in round one, scoring 14 points in a 93-49 rout of No. 16 Mount St. Mary's. Baylor edged past No. 8 Mississippi State 75-72.

Illinois vs Kentucky

The No. 3 Wildcats eye a Sweet 16 berth in the NCAA Tournament's second round against the No. 6 Fighting Illini. Kentucky won just its second tournament game in five seasons when it topped No. 14 Troy 76-57. Illinois ended Xavier's run 86-73.

Loyola-Chicago at San Francisco

The Ramblers stay in the Bay Area to face the No. 1 Dons in the NIT's second round. On Dec. 15, 2024, Malik Thomas scored a career-high 35 points as San Francisco topped Loyola Chicago 76-66 in Milwaukee. Loyola ousted San Jose State in its opener.

Kent State at Stanford

The Golden Flashes face the No. 2 Cardinal in the NIT's second round. Kent State pulled away from St. Bonaventure in the second half of its opener. Maxime Raynaud posted 22 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks in Stanford's 87-70 victory over CSUN.
