NCAAM

College Basketball, also known as NCAA Basketball, is the highest level of basketball competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States. College Basketball teams are made up of student-athletes attending institutions of higher education in the United States. It is one of the most popular sports in the country, with some of the most renowned NCAA Basketball teams including Duke, UNC, Kansas, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Arizona, Syracuse, and Louisville. College Basketball is noted for its competitive intensity and passion that the student-athletes exhibit. Each NCAA Basketball season consists of a regular season with each team playing approximately 3-4 conferences games and 20-25 games outside of the conference. The season is then capped off with the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament, commonly referred to as the “Big Dance” or the “March Madness”, where 68 teams compete in single-elimination bracket to determine the Division I National Champion. This tournament remains one of the most popular sporting events in the United States and is often the most “bet on” event of the year in the US. NCAA Basketball has a long and rich history dating back to its first recorded game in 1892 and only getting more popular as the years went on. Some of the big names that have graced the NCAA Basketball courts over the years include: Lew Alcindor (renamed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar once converted to Islam), Bill Walton, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Magic Johnson, and LeBron James; to name a few. Overall, college basketball continues to remain one of the most popular sports in the US, with intense rivalries and passion for the sport fueling the culture of the competition. NCAA Basketball season excites fans and players alike every year, as they hope for a sweet victory in the tournament and the chance to take home a National Championship.

The No. 1 Gators draw the No. 8 Huskies in the NCAA Tournament's second round. Walter Clayton Jr. scored 23 points as Florida breezed past Norfolk State 95-69 to begin the event. Two-time defending national champion UConn took out Oklahoma 67-59.

Baylor vs Duke

The No. 1 Blue Devils draw the No. 9 Bears in the second round of the NCAA Tournament. Cooper Flagg returned for Duke in round one, scoring 14 points in a 93-49 rout of No. 16 Mount St. Mary's. Baylor edged past No. 8 Mississippi State 75-72.

Oklahoma State at SMU

The No. 1 Mustangs and No. 4 Cowboys come together in the NIT's second round. Bryce Thompson's 23 points and five steals helped guide Oklahoma State past Wichita State in the first round, 89-79. SMU also earned a 10-point decision over Northern Iowa.

Illinois vs Kentucky

The No. 3 Wildcats eye a Sweet 16 berth in the NCAA Tournament's second round against the No. 6 Fighting Illini. Kentucky won just its second tournament game in five seasons when it topped No. 14 Troy 76-57. Illinois ended Xavier's run 86-73.

Loyola-Chicago at San Francisco

The Ramblers stay in the Bay Area to face the No. 1 Dons in the NIT's second round. On Dec. 15, 2024, Malik Thomas scored a career-high 35 points as San Francisco topped Loyola Chicago 76-66 in Milwaukee. Loyola ousted San Jose State in its opener.

Arkansas State at North Texas

Former Sun Belt rivals in the No. 3 Red Wolves (25-10) and No. 2 Mean Green (25-8) collide in the NIT's second round. The programs last met in 2013. Arkansas State matched a season high for points in a 103-78 win over Saint Louis in the first round.

Kent State at Stanford

The Golden Flashes face the No. 2 Cardinal in the NIT's second round. Kent State pulled away from St. Bonaventure in the second half of its opener. Maxime Raynaud posted 22 points, 11 rebounds and five blocks in Stanford's 87-70 victory over CSUN.

Alabama-Birmingham at Santa Clara

The No. 2 seed Broncos (21-12) battle the Blazers (23-12) in the second round of the NIT. Santa Clara routed UC Riverside 101-62 in the first round. UAB eliminated Saint Joseph's 69-65 behind 16 points and 17 rebounds by senior Yaxel Lendeborg.

The No. 8 Cardinals battle the No. 9 Bluejays in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Louisville (ACC) and Creighton (Big East) lost their respective conference title games. Ryan Kalkbrenner (CREI) averages 19.4 points and 8.8 rebounds per game.

Alabama State vs Auburn

No. 16 Alabama State challenges in-state power No. 1 Auburn in the NCAA Tournament's first round. The Tigers ended with losses in three of their last four games. Alabama State used a Hail Mary toss to defeat St. Francis (Pa.) 70-68 in the First Four.

Arkansas vs Kansas

Prolific coaches lead the No. 10 Razorbacks and No. 7 Jayhawks into the NCAA Tournament's first round. John Calipari (ARK) is ninth all-time with 875 wins. Bill Self (KU) has 831. The Jayhawks extend their record with a 35th straight NCAA appearance.

Omaha vs St. John's

The No. 2 Red Storm face the Summit League champion No. 15 Mavericks in the NCAA Tournament's first round. St. John's head coach Rick Pitino sports a 54-21 March Madness record across 23 previous tournament appearances with five different programs.

Baylor vs Mississippi State

The No. 8 seed Bulldogs battle the No. 9 Bears in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. The programs last met in the 2018 NIT. Baylor makes its sixth straight appearance in the Big Dance, a run that includes a national championship in 2021.

Mount St. Mary's vs Duke

The No. 1 Blue Devils draw the No. 16 Mountaineers in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Cooper Flagg is expected to be available for Duke after suffering an injury in the ACC Tournament. Mount St. Mary's dispatched American in the First Four.

Troy vs Kentucky

The No. 3 Wildcats look to progress over the No. 14 Trojans in the NCAA Tournament's opening round. Kentucky has been an upset victim in two of the last three tournaments, falling to No. 15 St. Peter's in 2022 and No. 14 Oakland last season.

Xavier vs Illinois

The No. 11 seed Musketeers march into their NCAA Tournament first-round game against the No. 6 Fighting Illini. Xavier erased a 10-point second-half deficit in a First Four contest to beat Texas going away 86-80 behind Marcus Foster's 22 points.
