NCAAM

College Basketball, also known as NCAA Basketball, is the highest level of basketball competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States. College Basketball teams are made up of student-athletes attending institutions of higher education in the United States. It is one of the most popular sports in the country, with some of the most renowned NCAA Basketball teams including Duke, UNC, Kansas, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Arizona, Syracuse, and Louisville. College Basketball is noted for its competitive intensity and passion that the student-athletes exhibit. Each NCAA Basketball season consists of a regular season with each team playing approximately 3-4 conferences games and 20-25 games outside of the conference. The season is then capped off with the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament, commonly referred to as the “Big Dance” or the “March Madness”, where 68 teams compete in single-elimination bracket to determine the Division I National Champion. This tournament remains one of the most popular sporting events in the United States and is often the most “bet on” event of the year in the US. NCAA Basketball has a long and rich history dating back to its first recorded game in 1892 and only getting more popular as the years went on. Some of the big names that have graced the NCAA Basketball courts over the years include: Lew Alcindor (renamed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar once converted to Islam), Bill Walton, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Magic Johnson, and LeBron James; to name a few. Overall, college basketball continues to remain one of the most popular sports in the US, with intense rivalries and passion for the sport fueling the culture of the competition. NCAA Basketball season excites fans and players alike every year, as they hope for a sweet victory in the tournament and the chance to take home a National Championship.

Kent State at Akron

The Zips (22-6, 14-1) try to clinch the MAC Tournament's top seed as they host the Golden Flashes (19-9, 9-6). Akron holds the tiebreaker over second-place Miami (Ohio), and beat Kent State 85-71 on Jan. 31 thanks to Nate Johnson's 20 points.

Nevada at UNLV

The Rebels and Wolf Pack put a bow on their regular-season series. Nevada beat UNLV for a third straight time Feb. 1 at the Lawlor Events Center. UNLV sophomore Dedan Thomas Jr. averages 18 points across three career outings against Nevada.

UCLA at Purdue

NCAAM

The Bruins embark on their final regular-season road trip, starting with a game against the Boilermakers. UCLA beat Purdue on Dec. 30 in 1999 and 2000. Both programs remain in the mix for a double bye in the Big Ten Tournament with 11-6 records.

Appalachian State at Marshall

NCAAM

The Thundering Herd (18-12, 11-6 Sun Belt) and Mountaineers (17-12, 10-7) end their regular seasons. Marshall has won three in a row, including a 69-59 win over App State on Feb. 22. Dezayne Mingo led the Herd with 25 points in that victory.

Connecticut at Providence

The two-time defending champion Huskies seek their sixth straight victory over the Friars in a Big East battle. Then-No. 11 UConn beat Providence 87-84 in January to cap an eight-game win streak. The Huskies haven't won more than two in a row since.

Butler at Villanova

Eric Dixon and the Wildcats host the Bulldogs for a Big East engagement. Dixon, a 6-foot-8 senior forward, leads the nation at 23.2 points per game after scoring 32 in a 59-54 victory at Seton Hall. Villanova beat Butler 73-65 on New Year's Day.

Miami at North Carolina

The Tar Heels (18-11, 11-6 ACC) look to stay hot as they host the Hurricanes (6-22, 2-15). North Carolina is on a four-game winning streak, and swept both 2023-24 meetings with Miami by a combined seven points. The Canes have dropped four in a row.

Clemson at Virginia

The No. 13 Tigers (23-5, 15-2 ACC) look to stay hot as they pay a visit to the Cavaliers (14-14, 7-10). Clemson has won 11 of its last 12 after taking down Notre Dame 83-68 on Feb. 26, but has lost 15 of the last 16 clashes against Virginia.

Providence at Marquette

The Friars (12-15, 6-10 Big East) visit the No. 21 Golden Eagles (20-7, 11-5). Marquette lost four of its last six, but both wins came at home. Stevie Mitchell posted 14 points and five steals as Marquette beat Providence 78-50 on Dec. 31, 2024.

Iowa at Illinois

The Fighting Illini (17-11, 9-8 Big Ten) try to shake off a shellacking as they host the Hawkeyes (15-12, 6-10). Illinois was dismantled 110-67 by Duke on the Madison Square Garden floor Feb. 22 for its third straight loss. Iowa is 1-6 on the road.

North Carolina at Florida State

The Tar Heels head to the Sunshine State capital for an ACC affair with the Seminoles. North Carolina has won five in a row against Florida State, including all three meetings last season after a 92-67 drubbing in the ACC Tournament quarterfinal.

Michigan State at Maryland

The No. 8 Spartans (22-5, 13-3 Big Ten) resume a difficult stretch by visiting the No. 16 Terrapins (21-6, 11-5). Michigan State comes off wins over then-No. 13 Purdue and then-No. 12 Michigan by a combined 22 points. Maryland has won four straight.
