College Basketball, also known as NCAA Basketball, is the highest level of basketball competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States. College Basketball teams are made up of student-athletes attending institutions of higher education in the United States. It is one of the most popular sports in the country, with some of the most renowned NCAA Basketball teams including Duke, UNC, Kansas, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Arizona, Syracuse, and Louisville. College Basketball is noted for its competitive intensity and passion that the student-athletes exhibit. Each NCAA Basketball season consists of a regular season with each team playing approximately 3-4 conferences games and 20-25 games outside of the conference. The season is then capped off with the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament, commonly referred to as the “Big Dance” or the “March Madness”, where 68 teams compete in single-elimination bracket to determine the Division I National Champion. This tournament remains one of the most popular sporting events in the United States and is often the most “bet on” event of the year in the US. NCAA Basketball has a long and rich history dating back to its first recorded game in 1892 and only getting more popular as the years went on. Some of the big names that have graced the NCAA Basketball courts over the years include: Lew Alcindor (renamed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar once converted to Islam), Bill Walton, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Magic Johnson, and LeBron James; to name a few. Overall, college basketball continues to remain one of the most popular sports in the US, with intense rivalries and passion for the sport fueling the culture of the competition. NCAA Basketball season excites fans and players alike every year, as they hope for a sweet victory in the tournament and the chance to take home a National Championship.

St. Bonaventure vs Providence

The Bonnies (9-1) face the Friars (7-4) in the Basketball Hall of Fame Showcase. Providence opened its Big East season with a 70-63 victory over DePaul in overtime Dec. 10. Friars senior Bryce Hopkins provided 19 points and 10 rebounds in that game.

Louisville at Kentucky

Bluegrass State rivals in the No. 5 Wildcats and Cardinals collide at Rupp Arena. The Wildcats lead the series 39-17 after winning the last two meetings. The programs have met at least once every year, with the exception of 2021, since 1983.

Tennessee at Illinois

The No. 1 Volunteers (9-0) head to the Land of Lincoln to take on the Fighting Illini (7-2). Tennessee celebrated its first week atop the AP rankings since February 2019 by taking down Miami 75-62 in the Jimmy V Classic at Madison Square Garden.

Grand Canyon vs Georgia

The Lopes (6-2) take on the Bulldogs (8-1) to cap off a Holiday Hoopsgiving triple-header in Atlanta. Georgia hasn't played since a 69-48 triumph over Notre Dame on Dec. 3. Grand Canyon is on a four-game win streak, including a victory over Stanford.

McNeese State vs Mississippi State

Josh Hubbard and the No. 25 Bulldogs (8-1) brace for the Cowboys (5-4) in a Magnolia Madness contest in Tupelo, Miss. Hubbard, a sophomore guard, averages 19 points per game. McNeese State lost to then-No. 2 Alabama 72-64 earlier this season.

Midwest powers collide as the No. 6 Golden Eagles visit the Flyers. The schools last met in 2008. Marquette rebounded from its first loss of 2024-25, 81-70 at then-No. 6 Iowa State on Dec. 4, to take down then-No. 11 Wisconsin 88-74 on Dec. 7.

The Friars link up with the Blue Demons in a Big East opener. Providence has won six straight versus DePaul, winning two games in 2023-24 by a combined 49 points. DePaul has not played since taking its first loss in 2024-25, on Dec. 4 at Texas Tech.

FDU at Villanova

Elite shooters collide as the Knights visit the Wildcats. Villanova's Eric Dixon is among the nation's top three scorers by averaging 25.7 points per game. Fairleigh Dickinson's Terrence Brown is providing 21.7 ppg with a solid 2.2 steals per game.

Bryant at St. John's

The Red Storm (7-2) tip off against the Bulldogs (6-5). This is the first meeting between the programs since Dec. 23, 2009, an 80-44 home win for St. John's in the lone previous matchup. The Storm are 6-0 at Carnesecca Arena this season.

Incarnate Word at Duke

The Cardinals fly into Cameron Indoor Stadium for a tough test against the No. 4 Blue Devils. This is the first time Incarnate Word has faced an ACC school. Davion Bailey has averaged 21.3 pointsover the last three outings for the Cardinals.

Georgia Tech at North Carolina

The No. 20 Tar Heels (4-4) and Yellow Jackets (4-4) open up their ACC schedules for 2024-25. Georgia Tech snapped a three-game skid in its series against North Carolina with a one-point home win Jan. 30. UNC has dropped three in a row.
