College Basketball, also known as NCAA Basketball, is the highest level of basketball competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States. College Basketball teams are made up of student-athletes attending institutions of higher education in the United States. It is one of the most popular sports in the country, with some of the most renowned NCAA Basketball teams including Duke, UNC, Kansas, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Arizona, Syracuse, and Louisville. College Basketball is noted for its competitive intensity and passion that the student-athletes exhibit. Each NCAA Basketball season consists of a regular season with each team playing approximately 3-4 conferences games and 20-25 games outside of the conference. The season is then capped off with the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament, commonly referred to as the “Big Dance” or the “March Madness”, where 68 teams compete in single-elimination bracket to determine the Division I National Champion. This tournament remains one of the most popular sporting events in the United States and is often the most “bet on” event of the year in the US. NCAA Basketball has a long and rich history dating back to its first recorded game in 1892 and only getting more popular as the years went on. Some of the big names that have graced the NCAA Basketball courts over the years include: Lew Alcindor (renamed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar once converted to Islam), Bill Walton, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Magic Johnson, and LeBron James; to name a few. Overall, college basketball continues to remain one of the most popular sports in the US, with intense rivalries and passion for the sport fueling the culture of the competition. NCAA Basketball season excites fans and players alike every year, as they hope for a sweet victory in the tournament and the chance to take home a National Championship.

The Bears (16-11, 8-8 Big 12) seek the season-series sweep of the Bearcats (16-11, 6-10). Baylor shut down Cincinnati for a 68-48 victory in Texas on Jan. 7. Norchad Omier posted an 18-point, 10-rebound double-double for Baylor in that win.

Mississippi State at Alabama

The Crimson Tide roll with the Bulldogs. Alabama bounced back from its first two-game skid of the season by beating then-No. 17 Kentucky on Feb. 22. Chris Youngblood scored 23 points as Bama beat Mississippi State for a seventh straight time Jan. 29.

Providence at Marquette

The Friars (12-15, 6-10 Big East) visit the No. 21 Golden Eagles (20-7, 11-5). Marquette lost four of its last six, but both wins came at home. Stevie Mitchell posted 14 points and five steals as Marquette beat Providence 78-50 on Dec. 31, 2024.

Iowa at Illinois

The Fighting Illini (17-11, 9-8 Big Ten) try to shake off a shellacking as they host the Hawkeyes (15-12, 6-10). Illinois was dismantled 110-67 by Duke on the Madison Square Garden floor Feb. 22 for its third straight loss. Iowa is 1-6 on the road.

Madison Square Garden hosts a match between the Fighting Illini (17-10) and the No. 3 Blue Devils (23-3). The sides last met in December 2020, with Illinois upending Duke 83-68 in North Carolina. Duke's Cooper Flagg is averaging 19.7 points per game.

The Ducks (19-8, 8-8 Big Ten) end a two-game trip by facing the No. 11 Badgers (21-5, 11-4). Oregon has won three in a row after topping Iowa 80-78 in the first leg of the voyage, but Wisconsin is on a five-game run after dispatching Illinois 95-74.

Penn State at Minnesota

With a taste for victory, the Nittany Lions (14-13, 4-12 Big Ten) face the Golden Gophers (14-12, 6-9). Penn State ended a seven-game slide by topping Nebraska 89-72 on Feb. 19. That skid included Minnesota's 69-61 triumph over Penn State on Feb. 4.

BYU at Arizona

Coming off a historic win, the Cougars (18-8, 9-6 Big 12) visit the No. 19 Wildcats (18-8, 12-3). BYU handed No. 23 Kansas one of the most lopsided losses of Bill Self's tenure by dismantling the Jayhawks 91-57 on Feb. 18. Arizona is 11-2 at home.

Connecticut at St. John's

The two-time defending national champion Huskies (18-8, 10-5 Big East) try to extract revenge from the No. 10 Red Storm (23-4, 14-2). St. John's has won 12 of its last 13, including a 68-62 victory at then-No. 19 UConn behind 21 points by RJ Luis Jr.

North Texas at South Florida

The Mean Green (19-6, 10-3 American) head to the Yuengling Center to take on the Bulls (13-14, 6-8). North Texas has won three straight. South Florida defeated North Texas 60-55 last season, with Brandon Stroud notching eight points and 12 rebounds.

Army at Bucknell

Ryan Curry and the Black Knights (16-11, 10-5 Patriot) visit the Bison (14-14, 10-5). Army snapped a four-game series slide with a 116-110 victory in double overtime on Feb. 8. Curry, a sophomore guard, scored a career-high 30 points in that contest.
