NCAAM

College Basketball, also known as NCAA Basketball, is the highest level of basketball competition in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States. College Basketball teams are made up of student-athletes attending institutions of higher education in the United States. It is one of the most popular sports in the country, with some of the most renowned NCAA Basketball teams including Duke, UNC, Kansas, Kentucky, Indiana, Michigan, Arizona, Syracuse, and Louisville. College Basketball is noted for its competitive intensity and passion that the student-athletes exhibit. Each NCAA Basketball season consists of a regular season with each team playing approximately 3-4 conferences games and 20-25 games outside of the conference. The season is then capped off with the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Tournament, commonly referred to as the “Big Dance” or the “March Madness”, where 68 teams compete in single-elimination bracket to determine the Division I National Champion. This tournament remains one of the most popular sporting events in the United States and is often the most “bet on” event of the year in the US. NCAA Basketball has a long and rich history dating back to its first recorded game in 1892 and only getting more popular as the years went on. Some of the big names that have graced the NCAA Basketball courts over the years include: Lew Alcindor (renamed Kareem Abdul-Jabbar once converted to Islam), Bill Walton, Larry Bird, Michael Jordan, Tim Duncan, Magic Johnson, and LeBron James; to name a few. Overall, college basketball continues to remain one of the most popular sports in the US, with intense rivalries and passion for the sport fueling the culture of the competition. NCAA Basketball season excites fans and players alike every year, as they hope for a sweet victory in the tournament and the chance to take home a National Championship.

Florida Atlantic at Florida International

A pair of South Florida schools link up as the Panthers (2-5) host the Owls (4-5). Florida Atlantic has dropped three in a row, beginning with a 1-2 showing in the Charleston Classic, but claimed the last seven meetings with Florida International.

Ohio State at Maryland

The Terrapins (7-1) and Buckeyes (5-2) begin their Big Ten seasons in the Free State. The programs have split 22 meetings. Maryland 6-foot-10 freshman Derik Queen goes for 16.5 points and eight rebounds per game, and shoots 61% from the field.

Virginia at Florida

The No. 13 Gators, 8-0 for the first time since 2009, host the Cavaliers (5-2) for an ACC/SEC Challenge contest. Florida used a 27-0 run spanning halftime to defeat Wichita State 88-51 in the ESPN Events Invitational championship game on Nov. 29.

Maryland-Baltimore County at Georgetown

The Retrievers make a short southwest trek to challenge the Hoyas in the nation's capital. Maryland-Baltimore County has won two in a row to stand at 5-4 on the season. Georgetown is 6-0 against UMBC in the all-time series after a 79-70 win in 2022.

Eastern Illinois at Butler

Jahmyl Telfort and the Bulldogs (6-1) streak into their test with the Panthers (2-5). Butler has won five straight. Telfort, a 6-foot-7 senior forward from Montreal, is averaging a team-high 17.6 points per game after totaling 47 over the last two.

South Carolina at Boston College

An SEC/ACC Challenge match sees the Gamecocks (4-3) play the Eagles (6-2). South Carolina grabbed third place at the Fort Myers Tip-Off by defeating another ACC school, Virginia Tech, 70-60. Boston College comes off an 88-83 upset loss to Dartmouth.
