Fútbol CONCACAF Liga de Naciones is a men's association football league founded by CONCACAF, the governing body for football in North and Central America and the Caribbean. It is the first ever FIFA-sanctioned tournament exclusively for national teams in the Confederation. Participating countries are competing for the championship and regional representation in the 2021 CONCACAF Gold Cup. The first-ever edition of the tournament was held in 2019. The Fútbol CONCACAF Liga de Naciones consists of two parts: a group stage, and the Hexagonal Final Round that will decide the winner. In the group stage, each of the 16 teams is divided into four four-team round-robin groups. The top two finishers in each group and the best two third-placed teams advance to the Hexagonal Final Round, which then determines the Champion of CONCACAF League. The teams in the CONCACAF Liga de Naciones include Mexico, Costa Rica, Panama, Haiti, Cuba, Trinidad and Tobago, El Salvador, Guatemala, Dominica, Jamaica, Nicaragua, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Saint Vincent and the Grenadines, Curacao, and Barbados. Many of these countries also have some of the most popular soccer players in CONCACAF such as Mexico’s Carlos Vela, Costa Rica’s Bryan Ruiz, Jamaica’s Leon Bailey, and Panama’s Blas Perez. The CONCACAF League holds great historical value in the region, as it has seen teams like Mexico win the Championship multiple times. Mexico has dominated the tournament and has appeared in the finals 18 times and won 10 titles. The United States are the most successful team with 12 titles, followed by Mexico, Costa Rica and Honduras with 6 titles, and El Salvador, Trinidad & Tobago, and Canada with one title each.
