The Baby-Sitters Club
Kristy Thomas (Schuyler Fisk) and her six best friends struggle to make their successful business -- the Baby-Sitters Club -- into a full-fledged summer day camp. When a group of adults led by their crotchety neighbor, Emily Haberman (Ellen Burstyn), tries to shut down the camp, the girls must band together to keep their dream alive. Meanwhile, each club member faces her own personal challenges, including divorced parents, a discouraging diabetes diagnosis and an innocent crush on an older boy.
Hoop Dreams
Every school day, African-American teenagers William Gates and Arthur Agee travel 90 minutes each way from inner-city Chicago to St. Joseph High School in Westchester, Illinois, a predominately white suburban school well-known for the excellence of its basketball program. Gates and Agee dream of NBA stardom, and with the support of their close-knit families, they battle the social and physical obstacles that stand in their way. This acclaimed documentary was shot over the course of five years.
The Impossible
A couple and their three sons encounter terror, courage and compassion following the December 2004 tsunami that devastated Thailand.
Hateship Loveship
A shy caretaker (Kristen Wiig) believes that the father (Guy Pearce) of her teenage charge is falling in love with her, unaware that she is actually the victim of the girl's cruel prank.
Nana's Boys
The intimate life of a couple who are confronted with the fact that their relationship is not as solid as they thought.
All the World Is Sleeping
A young mother in New Mexico sinks deeper into addiction while struggling to care for her daughter.
Forrest Gump
Slow-witted Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks) has never thought of himself as disadvantaged, and thanks to his supportive mother (Sally Field), he leads anything but a restricted life. Whether dominating on the gridiron as a college football star, fighting in Vietnam or captaining a shrimp boat, Forrest inspires people with his childlike optimism. But one person Forrest cares about most may be the most difficult to save -- his childhood love, the sweet but troubled Jenny (Robin Wright).
The Truman Show
He doesn't know it, but everything in Truman Burbank's (Jim Carrey) life is part of a massive TV set. Executive producer Christof (Ed Harris) orchestrates "The Truman Show," a live broadcast of Truman's every move captured by hidden cameras. Cristof tries to control Truman's mind, even removing his true love, Sylvia (Natascha McElhone), from the show and replacing her with Meryl (Laura Linney). As Truman gradually discovers the truth, however, he must decide whether to act on it.
