When Lorelei goes on a cruise accompanied only by her best friend, Dorothy Shaw (Jane Russell), Esmond Sr. hires Ernie Malone (Elliott Reid), a private detective, to follow her and report any questionable behavior that would disqualify her from the marriage.

Dodge City

In 1872, Dodge City, Kansas is the epicenter of cattle drives and lawlessness. Run by Jeff Surrett (Bruce Cabot), Dodge City isn't safe for anyone or anything. When Wade Hatton (Errol Flynn) arrives for a cattle drive, he's moved by the violent death of a young boy to take up the post of sheriff and take back the town from Surrett and his cohorts. But first he must contend with the rowdy townsfolk who, having been so long without law, desire to take the law into their own hands.

When Confederate veteren Ben (Charles McGraw) is unjustly sentenced to death, Porter decides he has had enough of his new bosses.

The Letter

In Singapore, Leslie Crosbie (Bette Davis) shoots and kills a man, claiming that he tried to take advantage of her. She is arrested and her husband, Robert (Herbert Marshall), hires attorney Howard Joyce (James Stephenson) to defend her. During the trial Howard uncovers an incriminating letter that casts doubt on Leslie's story. The two become embroiled in a blackmail scheme involving a Malayan clerk (Victor Sen Yung) and the dead man's widow (Gale Sondergaard).

A Woman of Distinction

Reserved college dean Susan Middlecott (Rosalind Russell) is all business and can't be bothered with love. However, when Susan meets charming British astronomy professor Alec Stevenson (Ray Milland), it seems that romance could be in the air. Though she resists being paired with Alec, things don't go as planned -- particularly when a publicity agent and even Susan's amiable father (Edmund Gwenn) get involved. Soon Susan may just be in love, whether she likes it or not.

You Can't Run Away From It

Furious over the elopement of his daughter, Ellie (June Allyson), with a fortune hunter, millionaire A.A. Andrews (Charles Bickford) has her kidnapped and sequestered on his yacht. Ellie defies her father by escaping and taking a bus to meet her husband, only to lose all her money to a thief. After Ellie accidentally allows the bus to leave without her, she is befriended by fellow passenger Peter Warne (Jack Lemmon), an unemployed reporter who knows her identity and is primed for a scoop.
