Nightfall

In rural Wyoming, James Vanning (Aldo Ray) aids stranded motorists John (Brian Keith) and Red (Rudy Bond). But after James finds out that the men just pulled off a huge bank heist, they try to kill him. When a harsh storm suddenly hits, the crooks lose their loot, and James manages to escape to Los Angeles, where he goes into hiding. He receives an unwelcome visit, however, from John and Red, who believe that James knows more about their lost money than he's letting on.

Tight Spot

Model Sherry Conley (Ginger Rogers) is offered a chance to get out of jail in return for testifying against mobster Benjamin Costain (Lorne Greene). She is taken to a hotel room to hide until it is time for her testimony, and a romance begins to blossom between the superficially hard-boiled Sherry and police officer Vince Striker (Brian Keith). With time before the trial running out, Costain will stop at nothing to kill her before she can reach the witness stand.

Suddenly

In advance of a presidential visit to the small town of Suddenly, California, a trio of FBI agents enters the Benson family's home to assess potential security risks. Once inside, leader John Baron (Frank Sinatra) reveals himself as a psychopathic assassin, and he kidnaps the family in order to use their house as his vantage point in his plot to kill the president. Sheriff Tod Shaw (Sterling Hayden) matches wits with the assassin and his gang in an attempt to save the day.

Along Came Jones

Melody Jones (Gary Cooper) is a laid-back cowboy who gets lost on the trail and ends up in the small town of Payneville. Seeing the initials "MJ" on his saddle, the people of Payneville mistake Jones for the treacherous bandit Monte Jarrad (Dan Duryea), and they nearly kill him before he is rescued by Cherry de Longpre (Loretta Young). Grateful for her help, Jones falls for de Cherry, not knowing that she is Jarrad's girl and that she plans on using him to help Jarrad elude capture.

He soon discovers that almost every resident -- from the crooked sheriff (Barry Kelley) to the shifty-eyed innkeeper -- is a member of the prominent Agry family. When Buchanan defends Juan de la Vega (Manuel Rojas), a young man about to be lynched for shooting the town drunk, he himself is accused of murder and must struggle to escape town alive.

The Guns of Fort Petticoat

Texan and U.S. Cavalryman Lt. Frank Hewitt (Audie Murphy) deserts the army after Colorado Union soldiers carry out the deadly Sand Creek reservation massacre, fearing reprisal from the Cheyenne. Crossing into Texas, Franks finds himself labeled a traitor for fighting with the Yankees, and his warnings about possible Indian revenge go unheeded. When a town near a mission, populated mostly by women, is attacked, Frank is appointed their protector and must build an army comprised of townswomen.

After reclaiming the money that is rightfully his, he is forced to hide out in a settlement house due to a case of mistaken identity. There, he befriends the house manager, Jenny Jones (Evelyn Keyes). While being pursued by gangsters and a persistent journalist, Joe learns a valuable lesson about altruism.
