Mr. Smith Goes to Washington

When the idealistic young Jefferson Smith (James Stewart) winds up appointed to the United States Senate, he gains the mentorship of Senator Joseph Paine (Claude Rains). However, Paine isn't as noble as his reputation would indicate, and he becomes involved in a scheme to discredit Smith, who wants to build a boys' campsite where a more lucrative project could go. Determined to stand up against Paine and his corrupt peers, Smith takes his case to the Senate floor.

Fool's Parade

Mattie Appleyard (James Stewart) has spent the last 40 years behind bars and is finally out. A model prisoner and a hard worker, Appleyard saved up over $25,000 while in prison and entrusted the money to prison guard "Doc" Council (George Kennedy). Appleyard, along with his two ex-con friends, plans to become a respectable citizen by using the money to open a general store -- but it soon becomes clear that Doc and an unscrupulous banker have no intention of letting him go straight.

Odds Against Tomorrow

Disgraced former police officer David Burke (Ed Begley) is looking for a way to make some quick money. When he decides to rob a bank, he calls on mean ex-con Earl Slater (Robert Ryan) and black entertainer Johnny Ingram (Harry Belafonte) to help him pull off the heist. Johnny is reluctant to agree but is forced to reconsider because of his significant gambling debts, while racist Earl balks because of Johnny's involvement. Ultimately, though, they must work together to get the job done.

Carson City

After one too many successful stick-ups of the Carson City stagecoach by the Champagne Bandits, the local banker decides to build a railroad track through town. To do so, he'll need to employ the help of "Silent" Jeff Kincaid (Randolph Scott), the only man who can tunnel through the mountainous region. Unfortunately, Kincaid has more than just the mountains to deal with -- neither the locals nor the Champagne Bandits are happy about the new railway.

The Violent Men

Former Union soldier John Parrish (Glenn Ford) wants to sell his ranch and start a new life by settling down out east. However, the ruthless tactics of Lew Wilkison (Edward G. Robinson), the scheming businessman interested in his property, make Parrish reconsider the move, especially after one of his ranch hands is murdered. Adding to the increasingly tense conflict is Wilkison's wife, Martha (Barbara Stanwyck), who is cheating on her husband with his brother, Cole (Brian Keith).

Valley of the Sun

After an Army scout (James Craig) with sympathies toward Native Americans is betrayed by a corrupt government agent (Dean Jagger), he escapes jail and heads to Washington, D.C., to stop an Indian massacre. While in Arizona, he encounters Christine (Lucille Ball), a restaurateur and the fiancée of his nemesis. Their journey north involves an arranged marriage and wacky high jinks, but turns potentially treacherous when they meet Indian chiefs Cochise (Antonio Moreno) and Geronimo (Tom Tyler).

The Happy Years

After being expelled from both a public school and a prestigious private school, John Humperdink Stover (Dean Stockwell) is given one more chance by his father, and is sent to the distinguished Lawrenceville prep school. Stover manages to ostracize himself from the rest of the boys in his dorm and make himself a target for the school's tough headmaster (Leo G. Carroll) before he finally begins to realize that he may have to do some growing up if he wants to get anywhere in life.

The Perils of Pauline

Pearl White (Betty Hutton), a beautiful but talentless sweatshop girl, wins a spot in a theater company run by Michael Farrington (John Lund), with whom she becomes involved. But after a dispute with Mike, Pearl quits, hoping to try her luck in movies. When a film director humiliates her best friend, however, Pearl wreaks havoc all over the studio lot. Surprisingly, Pearl's rampage earns her the lead in an upcoming silent action movie. Soon, Pearl is on a collision course with fame.
