So, they said, in a panic and frenzy she attacked her mother with a knife when she was on the phone with her school.

Prosecutors summed up their case during closing arguments accusing Sydney Powell of felony murder. They dismissed the idea that she was mentally ill when she attacked her mother, Brenda. Prosecutors alleged the defendant was trying to buy herself time and lied to police after killing her mother, Brenda. This was during closing arguments in her murder trial. According to prosecutors, she did not suffer from mental illness during the three and a half minutes she fatally attacked her mom.

It was now the Defense's turn to give their final remarks to the jury. Jurors heard a different side of the story on what may have led Sydney Powell to kill her mother, Brenda. They painted for the jury the picture of a young college student who fell prey to a mental illness called schizophrenia. According to them, the last week of her mother's life she was out of it mentally-which her defense alleged was the beginning of her psychotic break that led to murder.

Jurors listened to the state's rebuttal on what it said caused Sydney Powell to stab her mother, Brenda, thirty Times. She was pleading not guilty by reason of insanity. Prosecutors claimed this murder was a surprise attack and that Powell was buying herself time after she was kicked out of college and when she murdered her mom. The jury would soon decide what was her state of mind during the fatal stabbing.

The Defense rested its case to the jury. Now it was time for the state's rebuttal. Prosecutors called one witness in their rebuttal case. Dr. Silvia O'Bradovich, a clinical psychologist, testified that she interviewed Sydney Powell for two hours and diagnosed her with borderline personality traits and unspecified anxiety disorder and concluded that she was malingering. Dr. O'Bradovich dismissed the claim that the defendant suffers from schizophrenia.

The clinical psychologist on the stand claimed Sydney Powell was malingering and feigning her symptoms in her Psych evaluations following the stabbing death of her mother, Brenda. Prosecutors presented the mental health Evaluation of Dr. Silvia O'Bradovich, a clinical psychologist for jurors. According to the report, this mental health expert saw no evidence of Schizophrenia or a psychotic break at the time the murder.

The State's mental health expert admitted that she was not a board-certified forensic psychologist. Dr. Silvia O'Bradovich told the jury that this was her first time to testify in a case that was using an Insanity defense. Prosecutors wanted her to dismiss the claim that Schizophrenia and a psychotic break led Sydney Powell killing her own mother.

The Defense had more questions for the State's mental health expert on the stand. Dr. Silvia O'Bradovich dismissed the claim of the Defense's experts that a psychotic break led to the defendant killing her mother, Brenda. Lead defense attorney Don Malarcik challenged the expertise and work of Dr. Silvia O'Bradovich. Powell's defense claimed temporary insanity in this case. But according to Dr. O'Bradovich, she didn't even meet the legal definition of Insanity at the time of the crime.

The movement of Karen Read's black Lexus SUV was critical to the State's case. McCabe was adamant that the defendant practically confessed to hitting her boyfriend when they found him in the snow. That was what first responders also claimed to hear when they were at the scene.

Karen Read's defense tried to discredit the State's key witness. According to Jennifer McCabe, the defendant was the one who admitted that she hit her boyfriend, John O'Keefe, with her car. The Defense brought up the 911 call McCabe made that morning. Before McCabe took the stand, no one else had claimed that read and O'Keefe got into a fight before he died. This aligned with the State's allegation that the defendant killed him because their relationship became strained.
