S1, EP70 "Crime Lab Reports"

Michelle Stephens, the former mistress of Yazeed Essa, wrapped up her testimony about Rosemarie's death. Evidence showed that her dried saliva and vomit found in her car also tested positive for it.

Sex, Cyanide And A Doctor On The Run Case

S1, EP71 "Analyzing The Calcium Pills And The Bottle"

The criminalist who examined the tainted calcium pills testified for the state. Rosemarie Essa's death was linked to capsules that had been laced with potassium cyanide, a deadly and rare poison. Jurors then shifted their attention to DNA analysis in the poisoning death of his wife, Rosemarie. After she died, the defendant gave police his wife's calcium pill bottle which led them to investigate whether someone had tampered with it.

S1, EP72 "Eva Mcgregor"

Another key witness for the State testified. Eva McGregor was Rosemarie's best friend. She happened to be the last person to talk to Rosemarie before she died. McGregor told jurors that she talked to her almost every day. Prosecutors believe that if it wasn't for her, the cyanide-laced calcium pills may never have been found and Rosemarie's death could have remained a mystery. It was their final phone call that pointed to the calcium supplements.

The Lorena Bobbitt Trial

S1, EP37 "The Court-Appointed Evaluation"

Jurors heard a different mental health evaluation of Lorena Bobbitt. It came from a court-appointed forensic psychologist. Dr. Henry Gwaltney concluded after his hours-long evaluation that Lorena did not suffer from acute psychosis or temporary insanity. He also noted that she didn't remember a lot of what happened. Dr. Gwaltney confirmed that he interviewed the defendant for two intensive days.

The Lorena Bobbitt Trial

S1, EP14 "Defendant Defends Herself"

Lorena Bobbitt took the stand in her own defense as she stood trial for mutilating her husband, John. After hearing from nearly a dozen people in her social circle, the jury would now hear her side of the story about what happened that night. She was trying to convince the jury in her trial that she did not understand the nature of her actions the night she attacked John, her husband. She had cut off his penis and was pleading not guilty by reason of insanity.

The Lorena Bobbitt Trial

S1, EP15 "Marital Abuse"

Jurors heard directly from the defendant about the abuse she said John Bobbitt leveled against her in the early part of their relationship. Lorena claimed that included punches, shoves, slaps and things got worse. The claims of domestic abuse against John came straight from Lorena herself. She was on the stand testifying during her own trial as to how much she allegedly endured in the months leading up to the attack on her husband.

The Lorena Bobbitt Trial

S1, EP16 "The Violent And Abusive Marriage"

Jurors heard what life was like in the Bobbitt home, at least according to the defendant. Lorena Bobbitt took the stand to defend herself from the claim that she intentionally and maliciously chopped off her husband John's penis after allegedly being raped by him. According to her, John was a cheater, a rapist and an abuser. They separated twice - he left her. But they would eventually reunite.

The Lorena Bobbitt Trial

S1, EP17 "Violence, Abortion And Rape"

The second day of Lorena Bobbitt's testimony on the stand continued. She already told jurors that her immigration status as a green card holder was in jeopardy when she and John separated just two years into their marriage. Domestic violence, a forced abortion, and rape was what Lorena claimed went on during her marriage to John. On the stand, she got descriptive for jurors about their private life.

The Lorena Bobbitt Trial

S1, EP18 "The Day Of The Attack"

Lorena Bobbitt emotionally recalled her version of the night she cut off her husband's penis. She claimed things started with a vicious rape and then it ended with her with a knife mutilating John. On the stand she told jurors that she couldn't breathe and even felt like her vagina was ripping out of her. Sobbing during her testimony she recalled throwing the severed penis out of her car window and discarding the knife in a trash can outside of her place of employment.

The Lorena Bobbitt Trial

S1, EP19 "Facing Cross Examination"

Lorena Bobbitt answered questions under cross-examination. Prosecutors alleged that she intentionally severed her husband John's penis out of frustration with their sex life and the possibility of a divorce. The state tried to discredit Lorena as she testified in her own trial. Prosecutors spent time trying to portray the defendant - not as a gullible, innocent, domestic violence victim. But instead as someone who played a part in the couple's constant physical confrontations.

The Lorena Bobbitt Trial

S1, EP20 "Breaking Down A Turbulent Marriage"

John and Lorena Bobbitt had been separated for one whole year. Their relationship was central to both sides in her trial. She was on the stand trying to explain to the jury what led to that separation and why they reunited. Jurors listened to more emotional and graphic testimony from the defendant herself during cross-examination. She told the jury about the different times John allegedly raped her during their marriage.

The Lorena Bobbitt Trial

S1, EP21 "Attacking The Penis"

Lorena Bobbitt continued answering questions under cross-examination. She reiterated her point that she mutilated her husband, John, after he raped her that night. Sobbing through tears she recalled how violent he was before she attacked him--alleging he raped her in their bedroom for 45 minutes. The Defense concluded that what Lorena did to her husband was the unthinkable. After years of alleged marital rape she had enough and targeted the very source of John's tool for abuse - his penis.
