Police wanted a confession out of her after they determined she intentionally kept her boyfriend zipped up in a suitcase for hours. This second interrogation happened on two days after Jorge Torres lost his life suffocating in a suitcase. Police declared his death a homicide.

Jurors watched Sarah Boone deny any intention to the murder of her boyfriend in her second police interrogation. Detectives were in the beginning of their investigation trying to figure out what led to Jorge Torres being found dead in a suitcase. The first police interview happened at the crime scene. The next day after police did the initial part of their investigation that concluded it was a homicide and was seeking a confession out of her for her role in the murder.

Sarah Boone took the stand in her own murder trial. It came after the prosecution rested their case against her for intentionally killing Jorge Torres, her boyfriend, she was living with. Jurors listened to the defendant give them the backstory of how she met Torres and began their intimate relationship. Domestic violence was her defense. But she testified that during the very hours Torres was suffocating in the suitcase she simply had enough wine and fell asleep.

She tried to explain away the cell phone video she recorded while Jorge Torres was inside the suitcase pleading to get out because he couldn't breathe. Battered women's syndrome was a big part of her case. Boone testified that initially it was funny when her boyfriend was able to even fit inside that small suitcase. But then she claimed that she only left him in it because she feared for her life.

The allegations of abuse were crucial to the State's case against TikTok star-turned murder suspect Ali Abulaban. Before he was accused of shooting his wife, Ana, and her friend, Rayburn Barron, Ali was allegedly abusive toward Ana before their eventual separation. According to Ana's friends, she wanted to leave her husband. But she felt that she couldn't because divorce is discouraged in Filipino culture. Also, if she had divorced him, she could be deported, leaving her daughter with Ali.

Friends of both victims gave the jury context as to what was actually going on in the home of Ali and Ana Abulaban. She chose to separate. But in the end, Ana would be shot to death and Ali was accused of her murder.

Ali allegedly panicked after cheating on his wife Ana. On the stand was Ashley Sanchez who told jurors the night she came over to hang out and ended up having sex with Ali.
