Sarah Boone testified that she was a woman in fear of her life when she and Torres played a deadly game of hide-and-seek. Next, large images of Boone's bruises were displayed for jurors. She was testifying about the constant physical violence she claimed to have endured at the hands of her allegedly abusive boyfriend.

In her murder trial, Sarah Boone told the jury that she was shocked that she was arrested for the murder of Jorge Torres. Even though she never talked about any abuse in her interview with police, she told jurors that her actions that day was her way of defending herself from being killed. It was the State's turn to question the defendant on the stand. They wanted to discredit her claim that she zipped up her boyfriend in a suitcase and left him there for hours because she feared for her life.

The jury listened to more testimony from the defendant on what led up to Jorge Torres' death. Under cross-examination, the State tried to poke holes in her credibility claiming her side of the story was inconsistent with the facts in this case. Next, her Defense called in officers who responded to domestic abuse incidents at the home of the defendant and Torres. The calls were made a year and two years before Torres lost his life stuck in a zipped-up suitcase.

A forensic psychologist testified for Sarah Boone's defense. Jurors will hear more about the mental health issues she claimed to be experiencing at the time her boyfriend, Jorge Torres, lost his life suffocating in a suitcase. On the stand in her murder trial was Dr. Michael Brannon, a forensic psychologist, who evaluated the defendant and diagnosed her with battered woman syndrome.

On the stand, Dr. Michael Brannon confirmed that Sarah Boone was a victim of battered woman syndrome in her turbulent and violent relationship with Jorge Torres. Next, a former neighbor of Sarah Boone took the stand. She recalled to the jury in seeing the defendant with a black eye.

A seasoned forensic psychologist explained to jurors how she evaluates the mental health of a person. Dr. Julie Harper testified that she met with the defendant nine times after she was accused of killing her boyfriend, Jorge Torres. She diagnosed Sarah Boone with low self-esteem, depression, alcoholism, narcissism, and PTSD after the full psychological evaluation.

Forensic psychologist Dr. Julie Harper diagnosed Sarah Boone with PTSD, citing trauma from intimate partner violence. She went on to say that Boone's anxiety and low self-esteem kept her from moving on from her allegedly abusive boyfriend. The jury listened to the effects of intimate partner violence. Boone's defense alleged she was a battered woman who acted out in self-defense when she zipped up her boyfriend, Jorge Torres, in a suitcase and left him to die overnight.

The State's medical examiner took the stand. Dr. Sara Zydowicz conducted the autopsy of Jorge Torres. Prosecutors told jurors Torres died of environmental suffocation when he lied in a suitcase for at least 11 hours. Next, the jury shifted their attention on the physical evidence prosecutors believed proved Boone killed her boyfriend. This testimony came from the DNA analyst assigned to this case.

Cellphone data extraction made its way into this trial. Prosecutors wanted to show the jury beyond reasonable doubt that Sarah Boone intentionally killed Jorge Torres, her boyfriend at the time, by keeping him zipped up in a suitcase and then leaving him to die overnight. The defendant apparently video recorded her boyfriend stuck in the suitcase pleading to get out. It was in two different clips on her cellphone authorities seized in their murder investigation.

The Defense had specific questions for a digital forensics examiner. It was under cross-examination and jurors were learning of the digital evidence that linked the defendant to the death of her boyfriend, Jorge Torres, inside their apartment. Next, the police interrogation of Sarah Boone was introduced to the jury. On the stand, was the lead investigator on this case. Hours after Jorge Torres was found dead inside a suitcase, police immediately began questioning her on all that had transpired.

Jurors heard for the first time from Sarah Boone. Prosecutors brought in the police interrogation where she initially told detectives the events that led up to Jorge Torres' death. Jurors listened to her talk about what she remembered happened. In recorded cellphone footage Torres' voice could be heard from inside the suitcase that we was trapped in. He was heard calling out Boone's name and telling her he could not breathe. The State wanted to use this as evidence of intentional murder.

Jurors watched more unedited portions of her police interview she gave after Jorge Torres, her boyfriend. At the time detectives were still investigating his death as a potential homicide. In the interrogation, Boone gave police more background of her turbulent, drama-filled relationship she had with Torres in the years and months before he died. Boone sounded like her boyfriend's death was just an accident that happened while they were having fun drinking and playing games.

In her second police interview Sarah Boone was more animated. The jury saw her on the video recording crying and screaming at detectives. Police wanted a confession out of her after they determined she intentionally kept her boyfriend zipped up in a suitcase for hours. This second interrogation happened on two days after Jorge Torres lost his life suffocating in a suitcase. Police declared his death a homicide.
