Records indicate that Breanna reached out to the Department of Child Protection over 100 times in phone calls and emails reporting instances of child abuse by Corey's father in an 18-month period.

The defendant was charged with first-degree murder and endangering the welfare of a child. He faced a maximum Penalty of 40 years in prison.

She confirmed that the defendant, Christopher Gregor, entered Corey's Life when he was 5-years-old. Jurors learned of the family drama Corey was born in. Breanna Micciolo was only 17-years-old and in the 11th grade dealing with a methamphetamine addiction when Corey was born. His father, Gregor, didn't even know he was the father until he was 5-years-old.

Just weeks before Corey Micciolo died, just after a hospital visit, Breanna Micciolo, had to file an emergency order of protection to get full custody away from Christopher Gregor, Corey's dad. The defendant was initially charged with child neglect, based in part on the treadmill video police reviewed. After his arrest for murder, Gregor rejected the State's plea deal of a 30-year prison sentence.

To do this--prosecutors introduced text messages between Corey's parents, Corey's bruises, and hospital visits.
