A forensic psychologist testified for Sarah Boone's defense. Jurors will hear more about the mental health issues she claimed to be experiencing at the time her boyfriend, Jorge Torres, lost his life suffocating in a suitcase. On the stand in her murder trial was Dr. Michael Brannon, a forensic psychologist, who evaluated the defendant and diagnosed her with battered woman syndrome.

On the stand, Dr. Michael Brannon confirmed that Sarah Boone was a victim of battered woman syndrome in her turbulent and violent relationship with Jorge Torres. Forensic psychologist Dr. Julie Harper diagnosed Sarah Boone with PTSD, citing trauma from intimate partner violence. She went on to say that Boone's anxiety and low self-esteem kept her from moving on from her allegedly abusive boyfriend. The jury listened to the effects of intimate partner violence. Boone's defense alleged she was a battered woman who acted out in self-defense when she zipped up her boyfriend, Jorge Torres, in a suitcase and left him to die overnight.

Cross-examination continued on Dr. Julie Harper, a forensic psychologist, who evaluated Sarah Boone. Her diagnosis concluded that she was a victim of intimate partner violence in her unstable relationship with Jorge Torres. Dr. Harper told jurors that the defendant dealt with a mental health disorders exacerbated by her abusive boyfriend, Jorge Torres. Dr. Harper was the last witness before the Defense rested their case to jurors.

The Defense had specific questions for a digital forensics examiner. It was under cross-examination and jurors were learning of the digital evidence that linked the defendant to the death of her boyfriend, Jorge Torres, inside their apartment. Next, the police interrogation of Sarah Boone was introduced to the jury. On the stand, was the lead investigator on this case. Hours after Jorge Torres was found dead inside a suitcase, police immediately began questioning her on all that had transpired.

Jurors heard for the first time from Sarah Boone. Prosecutors brought in the police interrogation where she initially told detectives the events that led up to Jorge Torres' death. Jurors listened to her talk about what she remembered happened. In recorded cellphone footage Torres' voice could be heard from inside the suitcase that we was trapped in. He was heard calling out Boone's name and telling her he could not breathe. The State wanted to use this as evidence of intentional murder.

Jurors watched more unedited portions of her police interview she gave after Jorge Torres, her boyfriend. At the time detectives were still investigating his death as a potential homicide. In the interrogation, Boone gave police more background of her turbulent, drama-filled relationship she had with Torres in the years and months before he died. Boone sounded like her boyfriend's death was just an accident that happened while they were having fun drinking and playing games.

In her second police interview Sarah Boone was more animated. The jury saw her on the video recording crying and screaming at detectives. Police wanted a confession out of her after they determined she intentionally kept her boyfriend zipped up in a suitcase for hours. This second interrogation happened on two days after Jorge Torres lost his life suffocating in a suitcase. Police declared his death a homicide.
