Who had the debit card? Gary Farris' son living at the farm or his wife, Melody? That was a question raised during Scott Farris' cross-examination. The Defense dismissed the State's assertion that Melody killed her husband so she can reap money from his multi-million dollar estate. A murder weapon was never found. The .38 caliber bullet found in the Gary's remains did not match the revolver Scott came across. Jurors also learned there were a share amount of firearms on the family property.

The reality of the broken marriage between Gary and Melody Farris was explained further for jurors. The couples' youngest son happened to be a 35-year-old farmhand who lived and worked on the 10-acre property. Despite the Defense's hints of Scott Farris in being the real killer in this case, prosecutors argued instead that he had no motive to kill his father. One, he was completely reliant on him financially and two, he emotionally testified through tears that he loved his father.

Gary and Melody Farris' son who was living on the farm with them had to defend himself on the stand. Scott, who first discovered his father's remains, was being accused by his mother's defense as being the real shooter in Gary's death. Scott testified that he was told that he was a suspect in his father's death soon after he came across his remains. But until the arrest of his mother for first-degree murder nearly a year after Gary was killed no other persons were treated as a suspect by police.

Melody Farris' defense team wasn't letting Scott Off the Hook. Her lawyer argued that with his height and Weight only he could've shot and killed his dad, Gary, and dragged his 300-pound body to a burn pile to have his remains charred. Scott denied having any role in killing his father and disposing his body. He admitted to the jury that he fully understood why investigators deemed him as a suspect in the homicide.

The State was completing the bus route of the Scott Nelson just hours after he allegedly kidnapped Jennifer Fulford. Two city bus operators confirmed to the jury that the defendant rode their buses on his way out of town. Jurors learned of the defendant's movements after he allegedly kidnapped, carjacked, robbed, and killed Jennifer Fulford. These crimes happened in Winter Park, Florida. But just days later Nelson was arrested in Jacksonville, Florida--140 miles away.

Jurors watched plenty of surveillance footage pinpointing Scott Nelson's movements out of town just hours after Jennifer Fulford disappeared. The State alleged that he broke his federal probation by skipping town at the time he was arrested for murder. The condition of Nelson's body after he was taken into custody was brought to the jury's attention. Was he on the run after he allegedly killed Jennifer Fulford? Investigators examined the crime scene where Jennifer Fulford's body was found and thoroughly processed key evidence looking for important clues to her Murder. Scott Nelson apparently left important clues behind including the blood-soaked Knife used in the stabbing. It was enough for police to link him to the crimes.

In the State's closing arguments, Steven Dever, the lead prosecutor, explained why Yazeed all of abandoned his two kids to flee the U.S. as police began looking at him as a murder suspect. This was just a few weeks after his wife, Rosemarie, died. Emotions were high during closing arguments especially among Rosemarie's side of the family. This 6-week trial divided both sides of the family in the Essa marriage. Testimony pointed out to lies, manipulation, betrayal, dishonesty and heartbreak.

Just before jury deliberations, the defense called for a mistrial over statements prosecutors made to the jury. The judge denied that motion. Yazeed Essa faced life in prison if convicted in the poisoning death of his wife, Rosemarie. After six weeks of court proceedings, the jury began their deliberation over Yazeed's fate. It took them just four days for them to reach an unanimous verdict.

Yazeed was convicted in murdering his wife and attempted to evade police when he took flight overseas which led to an 18-month international manhunt.

The State called in a fire battalion chief to the stand. Crime scene investigators who testified earlier recalled that the burn pile where Gary Farris' remains were found were so hot and burning they called the fire department to come out. Jurors then listened to testimony from a close neighbor to the Farris family. Just days before Gary's remains were found he went missing. His family began searching the property and the neighborhood for him.

The neighbor caught up in the middle of the Farris family drama continued his testimony. Terry Braswell recalled his close relationship with Melody and what the two of them were texting each other in the lead up to her husband's disappearance and eventual death. He told jurors he and her were so close he knew about her longtime affair she was having outside of her marriage. While Braswell admitted that he didn't get too involved in her affairs he did have enough details on what was happening.

The jury learned about the family problems that led to a tragic murder and an attempted cover up. The defendant's own son testified against her. The State alleged that family drama dealing with finances and extramarital affairs led to Gary Farris' death at the hands of his wife. Chris Farris, the couple's oldest child, gave background of his family. Context was important for jurors in understanding how the Farris' home life gradually turned turbulent leading to murder.

According to the defendant's oldest adult child, family tension was brewing in the weeks leading up to Gary Farris' death. This family tension involved accusations of mischief with finances and spousal cheating. Gary went missing out of the blue during the July 4th holiday. All of his four adult children were panicking and went on a search. Unbeknownst to them at the time, their father was shot to death at home and his remains were burnt up and buried outside.
