Prosecutors delivered their closing argument. They began with attacking the Defense's assertion that Sydney Powell was legally insane at the time she fatally stabbed her mother, Brenda, in their home. According to the State's theory, the defendant wanted to hide that she had been kicked out of school and she feared disappointing her parents. So, they said, in a panic and frenzy she attacked her mother with a knife when she was on the phone with her school.

Prosecutors summed up their case during closing arguments accusing Sydney Powell of felony murder. They dismissed the idea that she was mentally ill when she attacked her mother, Brenda. Prosecutors alleged the defendant was trying to buy herself time and lied to police after killing her mother, Brenda. This was during closing arguments in her murder trial. According to prosecutors, she did not suffer from mental illness during the three and a half minutes she fatally attacked her mom.

It was now the Defense's turn to give their final remarks to the jury. Jurors heard a different side of the story on what may have led Sydney Powell to kill her mother, Brenda. They painted for the jury the picture of a young college student who fell prey to a mental illness called schizophrenia. According to them, the last week of her mother's life she was out of it mentally-which her defense alleged was the beginning of her psychotic break that led to murder.

Jurors listened to the state's rebuttal on what it said caused Sydney Powell to stab her mother, Brenda, thirty Times. She was pleading not guilty by reason of insanity. Prosecutors claimed this murder was a surprise attack and that Powell was buying herself time after she was kicked out of college and when she murdered her mom. The jury would soon decide what was her state of mind during the fatal stabbing.

Pathologist from the hospital where John O'Keefe was pronounced dead took the stand. Dr. Garrey Faller, chief pathologist and laboratory medical director at Good Samaritan Hospital, oversaw the test results on the amount of alcohol in Karen Read's System. This was hours after her boyfriend was found unconscious. The defendant's blood was drawn at the hospital the night before she and O'Keefe spent the night at bars with friends.

The State was not finished breaking down the testing done on Karen Read when it came to how much alcohol was in her system. Police wanted to know if Karen Read was under the influence of alcohol when she was driving her SUV the night they say she hit John O'Keefe, her boyfriend. He ended up unconscious in the snow for hours. So, investigators used a type of testing to get an estimate of how much alcohol may have been in her system hours before an official blood test was done.

A city worker who was in charge of scheduling snow plowing in Canton, Massachusetts took the stand. Police wanted to examine the area where John O'Keefe was found unresponsive in a snowbank. Next on the stand was Louis Jutras, the manager of information systems for the town of Canton. Jutras discussed surveillance footage he provided to state police during the course of the investigation.

The Defense rested its case to the jury. Now it was time for the state's rebuttal. Prosecutors called one witness in their rebuttal case. Dr. Silvia O'Bradovich, a clinical psychologist, testified that she interviewed Sydney Powell for two hours and diagnosed her with borderline personality traits and unspecified anxiety disorder and concluded that she was malingering. Dr. O'Bradovich dismissed the claim that the defendant suffers from schizophrenia.

The clinical psychologist on the stand claimed Sydney Powell was malingering and feigning her symptoms in her Psych evaluations following the stabbing death of her mother, Brenda. Prosecutors presented the mental health Evaluation of Dr. Silvia O'Bradovich, a clinical psychologist for jurors. According to the report, this mental health expert saw no evidence of Schizophrenia or a psychotic break at the time the murder.

The State's mental health expert admitted that she was not a board-certified forensic psychologist. Dr. Silvia O'Bradovich told the jury that this was her first time to testify in a case that was using an Insanity defense. Prosecutors wanted her to dismiss the claim that Schizophrenia and a psychotic break led Sydney Powell killing her own mother.

The Defense had more questions for the State's mental health expert on the stand. Dr. Silvia O'Bradovich dismissed the claim of the Defense's experts that a psychotic break led to the defendant killing her mother, Brenda. Lead defense attorney Don Malarcik challenged the expertise and work of Dr. Silvia O'Bradovich. Powell's defense claimed temporary insanity in this case. But according to Dr. O'Bradovich, she didn't even meet the legal definition of Insanity at the time of the crime.

Everybody was in shock the day John O'Keefe died according to Brian Higgins, who was under cross examination. He said he remembered how upsetting that day was, which made his memory a bit fuzzy. Higgins recalled that Karen Read and her boyfriend never showed up to the house party after they told friends gathered at a local bar that they would. Read's defense was convinced that John O'Keefe was beaten up by men at the Albert family home and then dumped in the snow.

Karen Read's attorney accused a State witness of changing his statements to law enforcement. Brian Higgins was a friend of both the defendant and John O'Keefe. He was hanging out with them at a bar just hours before O'Keefe died. The Defense grilled Higgins for removing the SIM card from his cell phone and getting rid of it. They asked him what exactly did he do with his phone weeks after John O'Keefe was pronounced dead.

An ATF special agent admitted that he got rid of cell phone records of the texts he made in the weeks and even hours leading up to the death of John O'Keefe. The long testimony of Brian Higgins wrapped up. He told the jury about his friendship with Karen Read and John O'Keefe, his access to the Canton Police Department, the flirty texts he exchanged with the defendant and how he got rid of the SIM card from his phone.
