The jury would soon decide what was her state of mind during the fatal stabbing.

Dr. Garrey Faller, chief pathologist and laboratory medical director at Good Samaritan Hospital, oversaw the test results on the amount of alcohol in Karen Read's System. This was hours after her boyfriend was found unconscious. The defendant's blood was drawn at the hospital the night before she and O'Keefe spent the night at bars with friends.

So, investigators used a type of testing to get an estimate of how much alcohol may have been in her system hours before an official blood test was done.

A city worker who was in charge of scheduling snow plowing in Canton, Massachusetts took the stand. Police wanted to examine the area where John O'Keefe was found unresponsive in a snowbank. Next on the stand was Louis Jutras, the manager of information systems for the town of Canton. Jutras discussed surveillance footage he provided to state police during the course of the investigation.

Jurors listened to more detailed testimony from a lieutenant in the Massachusetts State Police who was responsible for a unit that does evidence searches. His team was assigned to examine the snowbank area where John O'Keefe was found. The Defense conceded that the taillight on Karen Read's SUV was broken at some point. But her lawyers argued that it did not break because she hit O'Keefe. Instead, police planted red and clear plastic at the scene outside the Albert home to frame Read.

But according to Dr. O'Bradovich, she didn't even meet the legal definition of Insanity at the time of the crime.

Everybody was in shock the day John O'Keefe died according to Brian Higgins, who was under cross examination. He said he remembered how upsetting that day was, which made his memory a bit fuzzy. Higgins recalled that Karen Read and her boyfriend never showed up to the house party after they told friends gathered at a local bar that they would. Read's defense was convinced that John O'Keefe was beaten up by men at the Albert family home and then dumped in the snow.

Karen Read's attorney accused a State witness of changing his statements to law enforcement. Brian Higgins was a friend of both the defendant and John O'Keefe. He was hanging out with them at a bar just hours before O'Keefe died. The Defense grilled Higgins for removing the SIM card from his cell phone and getting rid of it. They asked him what exactly did he do with his phone weeks after John O'Keefe was pronounced dead.

An ATF special agent admitted that he got rid of cell phone records of the texts he made in the weeks and even hours leading up to the death of John O'Keefe. His cause of death was blunt force trauma and hypothermia.
