Fresh out of college, American Rod Drew (John Wayne) is asked to assist in the search for missing people in Canada. When the bandits abduct the young Felice Newsome (Verna Hillie), it becomes apparent they're responsible for the other disappearances as well. Luckily, Drew and Wabi are there, determined to find and free the captives.

Roy later grows concerned when one of the boys, Chip (Tommy Cook), receives a visit from his outlaw father, King Blaine (Lyle Talbot). Chased away by the sheriff, Blaine is shot and killed, leaving Chip a pawn between Blaine's gang and Roy -- who knows Blaine left the take from his last robbery with his son.

Just out of animal husbandry school, Sandra Knight (Polly Rowles) boldly decides to make changes on the ranch she has just inherited, and to raise sheep instead of cattle. Experienced foreman Gene Autry (Gene Autry) tries to warn her against this hasty conversion, but Sandra stubbornly ignores his advice. Before long, her business is failing, and she may be forced to sell to the shifty Briggs (Al Bridge). However, Gene has a plan that he hopes can set things right just in time.

Aging rancher George Washington McLintock (John Wayne), a wealthy self-made man, is forced to deal with numerous personal and professional problems. Seemingly everyone wants a piece of his enormous farmstead, including high-ranking government men, McLintock's own sons and nearby Native Americans. As McLintock tries to juggle his various adversaries, his wife, who left him two years previously, suddenly returns. But she isn't interested in her husband -- she wants custody of their daughter.
