To Gillian on Her 37th Birthday
Two years ago, David Lewis' (Peter Gallagher) wife, Gillian (Michelle Pfeiffer), fell from their sailboat and died, and since then he's been uninterested in other relationships. Rachel (Claire Danes), their daughter, has been suffering during this period, as David ignores her and goes walking on the nearby beach, where he communicates with Gillian's ghost. Gillian's sister, Esther (Kathy Baker), brings a friend to the house in hopes of sparking his interest, but that only leads to complications.

Little Secrets

Every Wednesday, Emily sets up a booth in her backyard that regularly attracts the guilty young souls of the neighborhood. These include Philip (Michael Angarano), whose clumsiness and his interest in Emily make him a challenging client. But complications ensue when she suddenly finds it difficult to keep all of her neighbors' secrets to herself.
Immediate Family
Michael (James Woods) and Linda (Glenn Close) are a married upper-class couple unable to conceive a child. After speaking to an adoption agency, they meet a pregnant 17-year-old named Lucy (Mary Stuart Masterson) and her boyfriend, Sam (Kevin Dillon). Financially unable to provide for the baby herself, Lucy agrees to be a surrogate mother for the desperate couple. But as her pregnancy progresses, Lucy reconsiders the decision to give up her child.
The Incredible Journey of Doctor Meg Laurel
Meg Laurel (Lindsay Wagner) is a young woman from the Appalachian Mountains who leaves her hometown in the 1930s to become a doctor in Boston. She decides to return home and practice medicine in the rural community where she grew up, partly because of a bad experience she had as a girl with a local healer. Things don't go as planned, however, as she faces stiff resistance from the residents and clashes with "medicine woman" Granny Arrowroot (Jane Wyman).
I Walk the Line
Henry Tawes (Gregory Peck), a middle-aged sheriff in a rural Tennessee town, is usually the first man to criticize others for their bad behavior. Miserable in his marriage, Henry falls in love with teenage seductress Alma (Tuesday Weld), who is the daughter of local criminal and moonshiner Carl McCain (Ralph Meeker). Henry's moral character comes further into question when he is tempted to conceal Carl's crimes in order to prolong his relationship with Alma.
I Dreamed of Africa
Inspired by the true story of indomitable Kuki Gallmann, the film tells of a beautiful and inquisitive woman who had the courage to escape from her comfortable yet monotonous life in Italy to start anew in the African wilderness with her son, Emanuele, and her new husband, Paolo. Gallmann faces great danger there but eventually becomes a celebrated conservationist.
