During a poker game in a Mexican bar, a group of men discover the location of a lost wagon train -- and its cargo of gold. To prevent one man from cheating the rest, it's decided that they will find it together. Among them are horse breeder Jim Carey (Randolph Scott) and rodeo rider Shep Wilson (William Bishop) ; like their cohorts in the treasure hunt, they share a tangled history -- Chris Jackson (Ella Raines), Shep's current sweetheart, is Jim's old flame.
