Savage Wilderness
Jed Cooper (Victor Mature), a trapper, enlists as an army fort scout, and shortly after meets and falls for Corinna Marston (Anne Bancroft), the wife of a nearby fort's commander. Jed comes across her husband, Col. Marston (Robert Preston), after he's suffered an attack at the hands of Native Americans. Col. Marston forces the captain of Jed's fort, Glenn Riordan (Guy Madison), to send out Jed and the troops to fight his attackers, despite their lack of battle experience.
The Walking Hills
During a poker game in a Mexican bar, a group of men discover the location of a lost wagon train -- and its cargo of gold. To prevent one man from cheating the rest, it's decided that they will find it together. Among them are horse breeder Jim Carey (Randolph Scott) and rodeo rider Shep Wilson (William Bishop) ; like their cohorts in the treasure hunt, they share a tangled history -- Chris Jackson (Ella Raines), Shep's current sweetheart, is Jim's old flame. Greed and suspicion soon break out.

On his way to jail, bandit Tom Tanner (Forrest Tucker) escapes the law and is pursued by Andy Barclay (Randolph Scott), a federal marshal who believes that Tanner will lead him to a stash of stolen gold. Barclay changes horses at the ranch of Karen Galt (Dorothy Malone), planting the seeds of romance before following Tanner to a mine shaft where the stashed loot is hidden. But a gang of outlaws who also want the gold then arrives, forcing Tanner and Barclay to team up and fend them off together.

Jubal
Searching for work, cowboy Jubal Troop (Glenn Ford) arrives in a small town, where he badly injures his hand. Fortunately, a local rancher, Shep Horgan (Ernest Borgnine), is willing to employ Troop despite the injury. Horgan and Troop work together amicably, but Horgan's two-timing wife (Valerie French) threatens to create discord when she becomes interested in Troop, although he really loves another woman. A jealous cowhand (Rod Steiger) complicates matters by spreading lies.
