The United States and the Netherlands have met 11 times in their histories. The USWNT holds the advantage in the series with a record of 8-1-2. The last time these two teams played was during the group stage of the 2023 World Cup and the teams played to a 1-1 draw. Jill Roord gave the Netherlands the lead in the 17th minute with a low, driven strike from the top of the box, while Lindsey Horan equalized for the Americans in the 62nd minute, finishing a corner kick from Rose Lavelle. That goal was the highlight of Horan’s time in the World Cup, as her performance was lackluster in the other three games the team played before being eliminated in the knockout stage.
The Netherlands most recent match resulted in a 4-1 victory over China PR on Friday after trailing 1-0 at halftime. Roord, Wieke Kaptein, Lineth Beerensteyn and Esmee Brugts all scored for the Dutch in the victory, as they erased the one goal deficit to win the match. The United States took on England on Saturday and played to a scoreless draw across the pond.
Tune in Tuesday afternoon to see if Emma Hayes and the USWNT team can close out the season with another win to improve their unbeaten streak to 20 matches.
