Since women’s college volleyball started in 1981 the Trojans have won three National Championships (last in 2003), making it to the finals one more time as a runner-up and six times as a semifinalist. The Cornhuskers have five titles, winning more recently with a 2017 title and losing in the championship match in two of the last three seasons.

So far this season the Trojans have been dominant, winning 28 of 40 sets in their 11 matches. Their only two losses came to 11th ranked Creighton (3-1) and top-ranked Pittsburgh (3-0).

For the Cornhuskers, they have been near perfect this season, outside of a shocking loss to Southern Methodist University (3-0). Since then the Cornhuskers have won eight straight matches, only dropping three sets along the way, including wins over the ninth-ranked Bluejays, 14th ranked Arizona State, second-ranked Stanford and fourth-ranked Louisville to bounce back.
