This season Oregon (16-4) has been one of the most consistent teams in the country in women’s college volleyball. The Ducks are up to 10th in the country and 8-3 in a very competitive Big Ten Conference. They are looking to bounce back after a loss to avoid its first losing streak of the season. In the team’s three other losses, Ducks bounced back defeating opponents by a combined score of 9-1 with two straight-set match wins. This match is against a very familiar opponent in UCLA (10-10). The Bruins enter this match on the outside looking into the AVCA Top 25 rankings, but on the cusp of getting back in. An upset over the 10th-ranked team in the country would go a long way to that for the Bruins.

The Bruins are also looking to bounce back after a loss in their last match. After a 5-1 start to the season the Bruins have lost nine of their last 14 matches, struggling to find any rhythm. Eight of those losses have come against ranked opponents with the Bruins going 2-8 overall in 10 matches against the best teams in the country.
Last season the Ducks won the only match between the teams. That match came earlier in the season and ended in straight sets. These teams will play one more time in the regular season finale with both the Ducks and Bruins both aiming to make waves in the conference and NCAA tournaments.
While the Bruins have struggled against ranked teams this season the Ducks have been near perfect against unranked opponents. This season they are 13-1 in 14 matches, with nine of those wins coming in straight sets. Like the win over the Bruins last season.
