A Top 20 matchup will take place Wednesday night as No. 8 Texas travels to No. 20 Baylor in women’s college volleyball.
The defending national champion Texas Longhorns will look to bounce back from a loss their last time out on Wednesday night with a win over cross-state foe Baylor, as the two nationally ranked teams go head-to-head in non-conference play. Texas began the season at No. 1, but has slowly fallen in the last few weeks. The team has now played three ranked teams and has lost to two of them, while also dropping a five-set game to Miami (Florida) for a record of 3-3 so far. Most recently, Texas was swept by No. 2 Stanford and was held to a season low hitting percentage of .125. Madisen Skinner led the offense once again with 12 kills and Emma Halter delivered 11 digs defensively. The Longhorns will need to regroup and pull off a win to avoid dropping even further in the rankings.

The Bears will look to continue their win streak, which currently stands at two games, and improve their record to 8-2 with a win on Wednesday night. Baylor has played two ranked teams this season and pulled off a win against then-No. 18 Minnesota, before falling to then-No. 6 Wisconsin. Most recently, the Bears swept Samford at home to close out the Baylor Invitational. Allie Sczech hit an impressive .529 with 10 kills on 17 swings to lead the offense. Lauren Briseño held down the back court and added a team-high 17 kills to help hold Samford to just .102 hitting.
Texas leads the all-time series against Baylor, 93-4, and holds a 38-4 advantage all-time against the Bears at home. The Longhorns swept the season series against Baylor last year with a five-set win in the first match and a sweep in the second. Tonight’s game will be the only meeting between the two teams this year.
