Virginia hosts 12th ranked SMU in women’s college volleyball.
One of the biggest matches in women’s college volleyball showcases 12th ranked SMU (16-6) taking on Virginia (17-5). Heading into this match the Cavaliers are one of the best teams not in the Top 25, knocking on the door of being ranked. The Cavaliers are coming off a loss as a part of a tough stretch in the schedule. They have lost three of the last six games after a 14-2 start to the season. Two of those losses came to ranked opponents like the Mustangs including a straight set loss to the top ranked team in the country in the Cavaliers last match. For the Mustangs, they have also had some ups-and-downs recently losing three of the last seven matches.

Overall this season the Mustangs are 4-4 against ranked opponents and 12-2 against the rest of their schedule. This is not a ranked opponent in the truest sense, but the Mustangs will have their hands full with a very talented Cavaliers team.
For the Cavaliers they have only played three ranked opponents, losing the last two in straight sets. Their only win came against 16th ranked Florida State in straight sets. Those previous matches for both teams set the stage for what could be the match of the day and weekend in women’s college volleyball.
