Northeastern and Hofstra square off on Friday night part of a 5-way tie for 1st place in the CAA
Northeastern (7-7) brings a three-match winning streak to the Mack Physical Education Center in Hempstead, New York, when it visits Hofstra (9-6), winners of five straight matches. The teams are each 5-1 in the Coastal Athletic Association and in a five-way tie for the lead along with Towson, Charleston and Delaware. Emily Mansur is in her 11th season coaching the Pride and is 191-108 with NCAA tourney bids in 2014 and 2018. Lenika Vazquez is 52-52 in her fifth season with the Huskies, whose lone NCAA tournament appearance came in 2001.

Hofstra swept a pair of CAA matches at Campbell on Saturday and Sunday, taking a 3-2 win in the first before sweeping Sunday’s matchup. Clara Bal leads the Pride with 164 kills while Izadora Stedile has 154. Costanza Perez Sain leads the team with 25 aces, Chiara Cucco has 264 digs and Iyanna Garvin and Emilly Nunes each have 11 blocks.
Northeastern also comes off a weekend sweep, taking two matches from visiting William & Mary by a 3-2 count on Oct. 4 and a sweep on Saturday. Kinley Gomez’s 118 kills top the team, with Georgia Stavrinides just behind with 110. Gomez also has a team-high 18 aces. Defensively, Nadia Koanui had 254 digs and Millie Loehr leads the way with 10 blocks.
The teams split two matches last season in Boston, with Hofstra winning 3-1 on Sept. 23, 2023, and Northeastern claiming a sweep the following day on Sept. 24, 2023.
