The second semifinal of the NCAA Tournament of women’s college volleyball showcases two more top-seeded teams. This showdown features second-ranked Penn State (33-2) taking on third-ranked Nebraska (33-2), who have won a combined 12 National Championships over the years. This matchup is steeped in history. The Cornhuskers have been on a roll during the tournament dropping just one set in their four matches. Since losing their last match this season the Cornhuskers have gone 15-2 across their last five matches. That last loss came against their opponents today in the Nittany Lions. This rematch gives the Cornhuskers a chance to gain some redemption on the way to the National Championship match.

In that first match the Nittany Lions won 3-1 at home. The Nittany Lions jumped out to a lead winning the first set 25-21, but lost the second set 25-14 to lose momentum. They responded well with wins in the third (25-22) and fourth sets (25-23) to earn their biggest win of the season.
That match sent the Nittany Lions into the NCAA Tournament where they have won four straight matches to get to the final four. They have wins over Delaware State (3-0), eighth-seeded North Carolina (3-1), fifth-seeded Marquette (3-1) and second-seeded Creighton (3-2).
For the Cornhuskers, they have been dominant since losing their second match of the season to the Nittany Lions. They have won five straight matches going 15-2 in sets since that including a huge win over second-seeded Wisconsin (3-0) in the regional finals to set up this rematch.
