The Gators are sitting in third place in the SEC standings with a conference record of 10-3 and an overall record of 19-5. While Auburn has lost eight straight matches, Florida has won eight straight matches. The team’s most recent time on the court was Friday night on the road against No. 25 Missouri. The Tigers pushed the Gators to five sets where Florida was finally able to pull off the win to end Missouri’s nine-match win streak.
Against Mizzou, Kennedy Martin dominated, finishing the game with a career-high 32 kills to record, the most ever by a Florida Gator. Another milestone reached in Friday’s win went to fifth-year libero Elli McKissock, who recorded her 2,000th-career dig during the second set to become just the second Gator in program history to reach the mark. McKissock finished the match with 24 digs. Alexis Stucky and Taylor Parks supported offensive play with 35 and 24 assists, respectively.
Florida’s hot streak is coming at just the right time, as regular season play concludes next weekend. Auburn will most likely need to look forward to how it can improve next season, as it seems out of the question that they would make it to postseason play. Tune in Wednesday to see if the Tigers are able to pull off an upset or if the Gators will make it nine in a row.
